Modern Life Windups Pt One . Toilet seats and QR Code restaurant menus.

This series is about all the little modern irritations that get under our skin and that nobody seems accountable for?  I compare modern life to like walking around with a stone in one's shoe , utterly irritating ! I'll cover many of the things that get us hopping mad from toilet seats that come down on their own to restaurants that still insist on a QR code menu!!

A Jazz chinwag with Clarinetist Adrian Cox.

Clarinetist Adrian Cox is a force of nature . His boundless energy and enthusiasm comes through in everything he does and he's a master communicator .  Adrian is one of the worlds finest clarinet players but he also has a rare skill and talent in making his music accessible to everybody through his skill as a communicator .  This was a very interesting and inspiring chat with Adrian and his positivity is infectious . Adrian has played many of the worlds most prestigious venues and has worked with greats such as Wynton Marsarlis and his Lincoln Centre Orchestra .  It doesn's end there though as Adrian is also the occasional sax player and manager of the Ska band Bad Manners !

London lives episode 1. A walk around the East End with David Stevens .

Master tailor David Stevens was brought up in London's East End .  As well as being a tailor with shops in Leigh on Sea and an office in Savile Row , David is also a singer and songwriter with several albums to his name . His latest recording is called Cold Rain . On this first episode of London lives , Ray meets David in Clerkenwell and they spend the day walking around London's East End . The East End that David grew up in was very different to the trendy , Hipster East End of today .  David and Ray visit the block of flats where David grew up and who's neighbour was Sir Alan Sugar. They have their photo taken at Cedar Court where Ronnie and Reggie Kray used to have an apartment and David tells other fascinating stories about famous East Londoners such as Marc Bolan .  This chat was conducted on the streets so at times the audio fades a little due to the wind and the rain! In fact , most of the interview was conducted with Ray and David huddling in a doorway of a block of flats !! Ray's 1970's Rockin' London.

Ray speaks of his youth in 1970's London. A City of subcultures where Teddy Boys , Rockabilly's , Punks,  Skinheads and Mods coexisted. Not peacefully and often erupting into violence.  Ray talks about his life as a young ted, then later on,  a Rockabilly, growing up in London during the 1970's. London's youth subcultures are an important piece of history that's often overlooked .  Ray was there and this is his recollections of those times.  If you have enjoyed Gelato's Parlour you can leave a voluntary contribution with the following PayPal link .
