Context vs Generalizations
03/15/2021
Marc’s methodology helps us to understand what the writers of the Bible were trying to communicate to us. Too often I am guilty of trying to quickly decipher general principles and truths from the Bible. However the writers of the Bible often dealt with specific issues. We need to dig deeper and understand the context and culture and what was being communicated. Otherwise we will build generalizations on incorrect foundations. Marc helps us to build the foundations first, so we can then build principles based on what God was actually saying to us in his word. The Luke 20:20-26 example was a good one “ render unto Caesar “ .

Make the Bible come ALIVE

I love listening to this podcast! Marc is so smart and studied but relates his knowledge in a way that opens up the beauty of this Ancient Text in a way I can understand. The Bible comes alive in the midst of the time and culture in which it is written. I went on a tour through Israel with him (which you HAVE to do) and when I saw he had a podcast I had to continue my learning from him. You must put this on your listen list!
