    What If Goodness Is The Strategy

    If you’ve ever felt like you had to earn your place with God, we want you to hear this clearly: you’re already welcome. We start by talking about seasons how we rush to “throw out the sweaters” when life feels stuck, and why the church calendar can ground a deep spiritual life. As we enter the Season of Creation, we lean into a countercultural practice of attention, letting the natural world point us toward God’s presence, God’s love, and our place in the world. From there, we wrestle with John’s reminder that people have tried to describe God for generations, but Jesus comes to show us the Father with clarity and mercy. A surprise pastoral moment follows: a spoken blessing for Ethan’s 21st birthday that names belovedness, belonging, and the freedom of being deeply loved. That flows into a powerful idea we all need: church can be “weekly amnesia therapy,” where we remember our true name and stop living as if we’re on the edge of the family. Then we open Romans 12 and get concrete.     Joy Is What Happens When Grief Is Lived Well

    Joy gets misunderstood when we treat it like a mood we earn after life settles down. We start somewhere more honest and more hopeful: joy as grief well lived. That means we name the pain without flinching, but we also refuse to let sorrow be the final word. We talk about the small, sacred things that still matter in hard seasons, and why practicing gratitude is not denial but a realignment of the heart.  From there we step into Matthew 14 and the walking on water story with fresh eyes. The disciples are compelled into the boat, pushed into a storm they did not choose, and they feel terror in the dark watch of the night. While Jesus prays, they fight waves that threaten to swallow them. Then Jesus comes walking on the water and speaks the words we all need when fear is loud: “Do not be afraid… I am.” We unpack why courage flows from God’s presence, not from perfect conditions.  Peter’s story is our mirror. He wants extra credit, steps out, gets overwhelmed, and starts to sink, but the moment that changes everything is his prayer: “Save me.” We reflect on surrender over striving, what miracles really look like when life is messy, and how prophetic imagination helps us pray “your kingdom come” and live it with compassion and equity.     You Can Change The Way You Think

    Your life is already preaching something and Romans 12 asks a pointed question: is it worship? We start with Paul’s invitation to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, then get intensely practical about what mind renewal looks like when real life hits parenting, work, stress, and the pressure to “produce” to prove you’re enough. For anyone tired of carrying an inner iron fist, we explore how repentance is not just feeling bad, it is choosing to change the way you think. We unpack how good-sounding principles can quietly become idols, especially when they cost the people around us more than they ever agreed to pay. Along the way we name the habits many of us normalize: keeping score, demanding others earn kindness, and defaulting to accusation when someone disappoints us. A story from a local outreach turns into a clear mirror for scarcity mindset and the freedom that comes when we opt out of fear and control, trust God’s abundance, and look for belovedness in the person in front of us. From there, Romans 12 opens into a blueprint for Christian living: humility without comparison, spiritual gifts that build up the body, genuine affection, hospitality, and a stubborn commitment to peace.     Pure And Genuine Religion

    Certainty feels like safety until it becomes an idol, and then it quietly starts running your life. We lean into a different kind of security: confident hope rooted in the Holy Spirit, the presence of God with us through every change. Love is eternal, the kingdom is not far away, and the invitation is not to escape the world but to live differently inside it right now. We spend time in the Book of James with “James the Just,” letting his words press on our real habits: be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. We talk about why that is so hard in a loud, reactive culture, and how listening for the Spirit takes practice and quiet. We name the difference between righteous anger at poverty, hunger, and war, and the kind of human anger that simply cannot produce the righteousness God desires. James also gives us a mirror we cannot dodge. Hearing God’s word without doing it turns faith into illusion, and the sermon brings it down to earth with a story about thinking a mirror was “bad” when the reflection was telling the truth. From there we move into language and power: how words can demean or bless, divide or heal, and why controlling the tongue is essential to discipleship.     Miracles Begin When We Refuse To Send People Away

    Jesus heads for a remote place to grieve, and the crowd follows anyway. That tension sets the stage for one of the most famous miracle stories in the Bible, but we slow down and notice what actually starts it: compassion. As we walk through Matthew 14 and the feeding of the five thousand, we ask what it means that Jesus is the perfect image of the invisible God and what we learn about God’s heart for healing, food, and real human need.  We also name the backdrop the text refuses to ignore: empire, oppression, and fear. The disciples offer a solution that still sounds normal today “send them away so they can fend for themselves.” Jesus answers with a line that turns prayer into responsibility: “You feed them.” From five loaves and two fish to twelve baskets left over, we explore how scarcity thinking shrinks our imagination while the way of Jesus trains us to bless what we have, share it in community, and trust love to multiply what gets released from our hands.  Then we connect the miracle to daily practices from Matthew 6: prayer, fasting, and giving that protects dignity by staying quiet. We talk honestly about how “God is watching” can land as fear, and we reframe it through a child’s simple gospel: “Yes, because I am dearly loved.” The message lands at the communion table, where we practice a wider table and a peaceable kingdom with room for enemies, neighbors, and the overlooked.     Peace In The Middle Of Chaos

    A storm can split your house in half and still not get the final word. We’re talking about the kind of Christian faith that doesn’t pretend life is predictable, and the kind of Holy Spirit presence that doesn’t flinch when you’re grieving, angry, confused, or afraid. We call it “omni-shaped” because God meets you in the shape you’re actually in, not the version of you that has it all together. From celebrating new life in our church family to telling the real-time story of a tree crashing through a home, we trace a single thread: peace that the world can’t give is possible, even when plans collapse. We also name the power of community, the simple question “What can I do?”, and why wisdom matters when you’re overwhelmed. If you’ve ever wondered where miracles are, we point to the ones forming right in front of us and the grace that shows up when you least expect it. Romans 8 anchors the message with words many of us need to hear again: there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.     What If Wisdom Is Proven By Love

    Some Sundays don’t just teach you something, they name what you’ve been carrying. We start with Pentecost as a whole season of practice, not a one-time moment, and we lean into the promise Jesus gives his followers: the Holy Spirit is not only near us, but in us. That means you are never asked to live like Jesus by yourself. We talk about the Spirit as Comforter and Guide, the one who illuminates truth, reshapes how we see, and reconnects us to the source of life when everything feels scattered. From there, we step into Matthew and meet a frustrated Jesus describing a generation that refuses to join the song, whether it’s a wedding dance or a funeral lament. The tension feels modern: we can dismiss God’s voice when it doesn’t come in the form we prefer. We explore the line “wisdom is shown to be right by its results,” and we ask hard, practical questions about what our thoughts and choices actually produce. Do they build God’s kingdom through mercy, generosity, and belonging, or do they feed fear, division, and anxious certainty? Then the invitation turns gentle and specific: “Come to me… and I will give you rest.” We unpack what it means to be yoked to Jesus rather than to an ill-fitting burden, and we connect it to the “unforced rhythms of grace” and a faith that helps you live freely and lightly.     What If Being Right Is Not The Goal

    A popcorn-filled car sounds like a petty problem until you realize it might be feeding birds, blessing something beyond you, and exposing what love actually costs. We start with that kind of everyday irritation and let it ask a bigger question: where are we being inconvenienced for the benefit of others, and where are we refusing the life Jesus is offering because we want comfort, control, or the last word? We anchor the teaching in Jesus’ warning that we can search the Scriptures and still miss Him, because the text is meant to point us to the Living Word. From there, we get painfully practical about “refusal” that doesn’t look like rebellion. It looks like small choices that shape us: the muffin that sabotages our goals, the late-night scroll that replaces prayer, rest, and presence, and the subtle drift into distraction where the Holy Spirit is quietly nudging us toward freedom. Then we open 1 Corinthians 13 as more than a wedding reading and more than a vibe. Love becomes the standard: patient, kind, not rude, not irritable, not keeping score. We talk about eliminating hurry, giving up the illusion that being right makes us safe, and letting love mature us past rule-keeping religion. We also connect love to justice, because love does not celebrate harm and it refuses to ignore the marginalized. The episode lands with a story of radical generosity in a grocery line that blurs the boundary between “my family” and “your family,” and it ends at the communion table with a clear takeaway: faith and hope matter, but the only legacy that lasts is love.
