    Is it Valued or is it Good - Dr. Edward Tingley

    Dr. Edward Tingley discusses the development of the modern concept of "values" as the basis for modern ethics to the detriment of society and culture. In short, ethics do not mean values. Dr. Tingley calls for a reclamation of virtue and the traditional Christian ethical worldview.  This talk was delivered  as part of the Ross Willows Distinguished Lecturer series for the Manitoba Chapter of the Christian Medical & Dental Society in Winnipeg, Manitoba, March 24 2010. Edward Tingley holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Ottawa (1995) and a B.A. in Art History from Carleton University (1978). He has taught at Augustine College since 2005 and has served as Dean of the College since 2016, after a previous term as Dean from 2006 to 2011. Dr. Tingley has spoken on topics in philosophy and ethics (rights of conscience, Aristotelian ethics, Nietzsche, Alasdair MacIntyre, etc.) and in art and culture (the Gothic cathedral, art and the Gospel, modern art, cultural decay), many published on YouTube.
