What in the World sponsored by: The Beer & Belly Deli in Northfield, Ohio; Big Foot Landscaping in Oakwood Village, Ohio; “What Would you Say to a Naked Alien” – paulseaburn.com and #yesican Coaching with Karen for all your life coaching needs contact: kh.yesican1@gmail.com Today Paul has another great lineup of stories as does John DiNallo who will bring us sports information that may sound enticingly weird. Please remember if you have a story or a lead on something unusual and real please contact us here at newclevelandradio@gmail.comAlso please check out all of podcasts at https://newclevelandradio.net/contact-links/ A story about an emu that escaped from a wildlife preserve in England and was subsequently captured by a man named “John Smith”, who then ended up in the emergency room after the emu headbutted him. (Footage of the encounter, filmed by James Barker and shared by Ro Barker, amassed over two million views online.) The discussion included details about how emus are typically captured and Paul's personal experience seeing an emu at a farm in Houston. The conversation concluded with a lighthearted exchange about collective nouns for groups of birds, particularly emus and ostriches. A new service in San Francisco where humanoid robots with artificial intelligence are being rented for house cleaning tasks at $30 per hour, with an additional $50 for a maid outfit. The robots can perform basic chores like vacuuming and cleaning counters, though they have limitations such as falling over when unfamiliar with the environment and requiring specialized features for navigating hills. John and Karen participated in the discussion, with John indicating that his wife Annette would likely be the one to decide on hiring such a robot and that he would pay for it. Karen thinks the robot would be competition for her I-robot.A recent human versus robot boxing match where a six-foot-tall robot defeated a human fighter, noting that the human had a robot trainer in his corner. John expressed concerns about the unfairness of humans competing against robots in sports, suggesting that robot competitions should be limited to robots against other robots. The conversation then shifted to Girl Scout cookies, with Paul commenting on the aggressive sales tactics used by the girls and their mothers. – Check out the new cookie for dogs.New Girl Scout cookies for dogs called Patch Pals, which will be available in January for about $7 per box in blueberry muffin flavor. He and John made fun of a new trend among macho men of shaving their eyelashes, with Paul suggesting they should focus on trimming their eyebrows instead. Paul also mentioned that Bingo has been nominated for the Toy Hall of Fame in 2026, along with other toys like Bop It and Pokémon, and noted that Pope Leo is a fan of Bingo and plans to get involved if it doesn't make the cut. (LOL)Unique Games and Cultural ActivitiesVarious unusual games and activities, including the toy Polly Pocket and the dice game Yahtzee. He shared information about a unique cooking class in Japan where noodles are made by stomping on dough with your feet and mentioned that similar foot-made pasta exists in Italy. The conversation concluded with Paul sharing a local story about Alien Castle Noel Miniature Golf AttractionA new attraction at Castle Noel in Medina, Ohio called Alien Vacation Miniature Golf, which features a black-lit course with 3D glasses and alien-themed scenes. John mentioned that he and Annette had visited Castle Noel but not the new miniature golf attraction. The conversation then transitioned to their sports segment where John discussed Earl Weaver, a feisty umpire-hating manager from Major League history who managed the Baltimore Orioles and later became a Baseball Hall of Famer.Baseball.Follow Paul at: https://www.facebook.com/paul.seaburn Follow Karen at: https://www.facebook.com/kiki1one/ or https://www.facebook.com/NCRpod/

What in the World — everyone’s favorite Real News, Sometimes Weird, Always Funny showWe’ve been podcasting at newclevelandradio.net since 2017, which means we’re rolling into 10 years of Paul Seaburn’s wit, wisdom, and occasional “Did he really just say that?” moments. We’re proudly sponsored by:• The Beer & Belly Deli in Northfield, Ohio (home of Bumble the Bigfoot, who still refuses to pay rent)• Big Foot Landscaping in Oakwood Village, Ohio (because even mythical creatures need curb appeal)• What Would You Say to a Naked Alien at paulseaburn.com (a book that answers questions you didn’t know you had)• #yesican Coaching with Karen — life coaching for anyone who needs clarity, courage, or just someone to remind them they’re doing better than they think (kh.yesican1@gmail.com)Our stories are real — even when they sound like they escaped from a fever dream. The humor keeps us smiling, laughing, and occasionally wondering if the universe is messing with us on purpose.Got something weird, unusual, or just plain “What in the world?” Send it to newclevelandradio@gmail.com. We love strange stories. We live for strange stories. We are strange stories.Today’s Podcast Highlights Halloween & Food DiscussionWe covered Cleveland attractions, including a stork delivering pierogies in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Yes, you read that correctly. Pierogies. Delivered by a stork. Cleveland never disappoints. Then came Halloween prep: John buys candy in bulk, which is either responsible or dangerous depending on how early he opens the bags.We debated salad dressings — Yum Yum vs balsamic — and Paul introduced Hidden Valley Spooky Ranch, a black, glow in the dark dressing. Because nothing says “Happy Halloween” like serving your salad from a haunted bottle.Paul also suggested pumpkin spice ranch, proving once again that no flavor is safe from seasonal marketing.Plastic to Cookie Genetic EngineeringPaul and John discussed Southern Illinois University’s mascot, the Saluki, and then casually mentioned scientists turning plastic waste into edible cookies.Yes, cookies. Made from plastic. We’re not saying don’t try them… we’re just saying maybe don’t try them first.Paul then shared the history of Fig Newtons, because after plastic cookies, anything sounds normal.Soccer Stadium Hydration TraditionIn Bremen, Germany, a stadium celebrated its 100th anniversary by giving players a shot and a beer at the 32 minute hydration break.Apparently, this tradition began in 1975 when a referee decided water was overrated.John expressed skepticism. Paul expressed interest. Karen expressed concern.Weird Al Yankovic Gets an AsteroidThe International Astronomical Union officially named an asteroid after Weird Al Yankovic. This required approval from every member, proving that even in space, Weird Al is universally loved.Paul shared Weird Al’s early accordion lessons and Grammy wins, and teased an upcoming Shaquille O’Neal story — because why not?Bigfoot Trap & Celebrity HonorsCelebrities like Shaquille O’Neal and Elvis Presley have received honorary FBI positions. Naturally, this led to Bigfoot.Paul described a real Bigfoot trap built in Oregon in 1974. It caught bears, tourists, and probably a few confused squirrels — but never Bigfoot. It’s now a Forest Service attraction, because of course it is.Bigfoot Trap Building TipsPaul shared movie inspired Bigfoot trap instructions:Naki Sumo Crying Baby FestivalJohn explained Japan’s 400 year old tradition where sumo wrestlers compete to make babies cry.Winners get blessings from priests. Losers get confused babies.Paul shared a college crying contest story involving spilled beer. Karen and John discussed cultural significance. Everyone agreed that babies cry enough without professional help.Music intro - Editing by Griffin Booth

Find Your Way_The Story of Earl and more 92426_Cherie Tinnin #grief #podmatch

Find Your Way with Karen Hale & Kristy AndersonWelcome to Find Your Way, a podcast hosted by Karen Hale, producer, and life coach, and Kristy Anderson, co host and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist. Together, we hold space for honest conversations about healing, resilience, and the many ways people rebuild their lives after profound change.Today, we welcome back a guest whose story has touched many of our listeners—Cherie Tinnin. You may remember her from a previous episode, The Story of Earl, where she shared the journey that led to the amputation of her ankle and the creation of “Earl,” the prosthetic leg she named as part of her emotional recovery. If you’d like to revisit that conversation, you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHz7z39OT3E&list=PLSdL23sBfggnP2VLP7FoN7Vr7aDUyKBus&index=32In today’s episode, Cherie opens up about two deeply personal paths she’s walking at the same time: her prosthetic progress and her grief journey. She talks about learning to wear her prosthetic leg with increasing confidence, the setbacks and breakthroughs, and the emotional roller coaster that comes with reclaiming mobility. She also shares how the passing of her father in July brought forward grief she had been quietly carrying, and how a friend’s support helped her finally release what she had been holding inside. Kristy reminds us that grief has no timeline, no stages, and no rules—only the need for grace.Cherie also revisits the long medical road that led to her amputation, beginning with a misdiagnosed injury in 1996 and culminating in the decision to remove her ankle after an ATV accident made repair nearly impossible. She describes how she and her sister transformed the experience into something meaningful—taking “Earl” on a playful outing around Denver before surgery, documenting the day with humor and love.We explore how naming her amputated foot “Earl” and the remaining part “Steve” became a powerful coping tool, helping her navigate the emotional weight of amputation and avoid the coldness of medical terminology. Kristy shares how this kind of symbolic naming is often used in the Grief Recovery Method to support healing.Cherie also talks about the world of prosthetics—how different legs are designed for different activities, from dancing to hiking to swimming. She shares her excitement about New Mexico’s Get Moving New Mexico program, which provides access to specialized prosthetics beyond what insurance covers, and her hopes for future mobility. She gives us an update on her current progress: a new silicone insert that finally allows her to wear her prosthetic comfortably, her joy at returning to her own office, and the emotional ups and downs that come with reclaiming independence. Finally, Cherie reflects on the moment she realized amputation was the right choice—how learning the low success rate of repair helped her make an informed decision, and how grateful she is to have had agency in the process. She speaks candidly about the challenges of recovery, the importance of honesty, and the strength she’s found in asking for help. The conversation closes with her hope for more in person support groups for amputees, and Kristy’s insight into how grief recovery specialists help people process the grief that comes with physical and life changes. You can connect with Cherie on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/cherie.tinnin74For more information on the Greif Recovery Method please contact Kristy Anderson https://www.griefrecoverymethod.com/find-a-specialist/kristy-andersonFor more information on sharing your story and Life Coaching contact Karen newclevelandradio@gmail.comMusic intro courtesy of Jeff Brisbin “I wish you enough” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KYf9JeFkgEMusic Editor: Griffin Booth

    A Bounty 4 a BigFoot_9226 WITW #288 #entertainment #news #real #podmatch

Welcome to What in the World — everyone’s favorite Real News, Sometimes Weird, Always Funny program… at least according to the crew, who have been laughing at their own jokes since 2017. Today’s episode is proudly sponsored by:• The Beer & Belly Deli in Northfield, Ohio — home of Bumble the Bigfoot• Big Foot Landscaping in Oakwood Village — because even mythical creatures need curb appeal.• What Would You Say to a Naked Alien? — Paul’s book, available at paulseaburn.com.• #yesican Coaching with Karen — life coaching for anyone who needs a nudge, Contact: kh.yesican1@gmail.comEach week Paul digs up real news stories that somehow slipped past the conventional broadcasts — Today’s Stories Include:1. A Big Bigfoot Bounty and an Armed Yowie in Australiaa. Paul and John discussed a challenge offering one million dollars for Bigfoot evidence. The requirements include clear photos, handprints, recordings, thermal images, and presumably a notarized statement from Bigfoot’s attorney. John bravely agreed to pursue the challenge and report back weekly. Paul sweetened the pot with an extra $1 from his comedy buddy Bill, and Paul’s wife Donna offered to crochet a gift — because nothing says “scientific discovery” like a handmade afghan. Karen asked whether Bumble the Bigfoot at the Beer & Belly Deli could count as evidence. (We’re still waiting on the judges.)b. Then came Linda Kay’s alleged photo of a Yowie arm in Australia. John, ever the skeptic, suggested it looked more like a horse’s mane and wondered why anyone would photograph dense foliage instead of, say, the actual creature. Paul and John agreed the evidence was… let’s call it “creative.” (What do YOU think? Horse? Yowie? Or someone who needs to clean their camera lens?)2. Some Nails That Deserve to Be PoundedPaul and John explored nail art trends, including sardine themed nails — which they quickly dismissed because actual sardines would be too small, too slippery, and too smelly. Paul then showed a fish design that looked like a fish swimming out of your finger, which is either adorable or a sign you should see a doctor. He also shared the Oklahoma tradition of catfish noodling, where people stick their hands into river holes to catch catfish. (This is legal. This is real. This is America.)3. A World Record Wooden Wagon — Childhood Memories Includeda. Paul shared a Guinness World Record for the fastest motorized shoe from Holland. Yes, a shoe. A shoe with an engine. He then dove into the history of wooden cars — the beloved “Woody” wagons from 1910 to 1965. The first wooden car was a Rolls Royce in 1910, and Chrysler kept fake wood panels alive until the 1960s, proving that humans will slap wood grain on anything.b. Bonus trivia: There was once a barnstorming baseball team called the Holland Wooden Shoes out of Detroit. Ty Cobb played for them. So did Karen’s grandfather Abe Moss and his brother Joe — until their mother declared, “Only bums play baseball.” Oy vey indeed. And yes, it’s a real story.4. Reasons Not to Fear Robots (Yet) & The Latest on Ohio ArmadillosPaul and John discussed a humanoid robot competition where one robot collapsed during a lifting exercise. It was disqualified, but all judges gave it a 10 for effort — proving robots may be more emotionally supported than most humans. Another robot caught fire during a race, which is not ideal for anyone hoping to survive the robot uprising. Then came the armadillos — apparently migrating far beyond their usual southwestern habitat. One was spotted in Ohio, meaning either climate change is real or armadillos have discovered Buc ee’s.5. What in the World of Sports with John DiNalloJohn shared the legendary story of Garo Yepremian, the Miami Dolphins kicker whose infamous Super Bowl VII pass attempt resulted in a touchdown… for the other team. CARE NOTES expands it's Model- 9226 #65 #ageinplace #podmatch

Care Notes with Doug Wilber (Cherished Companions) openedtoday’s episode with Doug sharing how their state‑of‑the‑art Home Care Programis expanding its caregiver training model. Doug and his team believe the mosteffective caregivers are those who feel called to serve — individuals whoinstinctively nurture, learn, and adapt to each client’s unique needs. As thisnew training initiative unfolds, Doug will continue emphasizing their mission: helping people enjoy independence, not fear it. Doug’s guiding vision remains clear: “To create a company that provides unsurpassedcompassionate care at an outstanding value, allowing more people to enjoyindependence in the comfort of home.” Aligned with that mission, Karen shared her recent experience ofaccidentally falling in the shower. Even with safety features in place, theincident revealed the need for additional adjustments to ensure her well‑beingmoving forward. Accidents can sometimes be prevented, but by nature they areunexpected — and this one resulted in five broken ribs and a four‑day hospitalstay. Family stepped in initially to help hersettle back home and begin recovery. Through this experience, Karen has learnedthe importance of asking for help and recognizing when support is needed. Shealso understands that if family or friends are unable to provide the level ofcare required, Cherished Companions offers a reliable, compassionate solution. Most adults want to maintain independencewhile receiving just enough assistance to stay safe. Sometimes that help isminimal; sometimes it grows. But finding the right balance — the mix of supportand autonomy — is the path so many of us hope to follow.
