Let the InsideOut

Laura Stembridge

Laura opens up the mental health conversation to get what’s going on in the inside out into the open. She talks to guests about the challenging times they have been through and what they do now to maintain a positive state of mind to stay strong, happy and resilient. We all have mental health yet very few of us feel confident to talk about our feelings and emotions. It’s normal to feel a little low sometimes, lost or wondering how to move forward in life. Laura draws on her own experiences and that of others to break stigma and reinforce the message it is OK to not be OK.

James Haskell : Why Asking for Help Is Only Half the Story

James Haskell is one of English rugby's most recognisable figures, a World Cup winner with 77 England caps and a career spanning Wasps, Northampton, and international duty. Since retiring from professional sport, he's built a second career as a DJ, podcaster, author, comedian, and motivational speaker, with a reputation for saying exactly what he thinks. In this episode, James opens up about the mental toolkit he's built over more than two decades of therapy, starting at 17 on the advice of his godfather and how it's helped him navigate the hardest stretch of his personal life: retirement, divorce, his father's death, turning 40, and learning to be a present dad to his young daughter. He talks about ADHD, the difference between diagnosis and action, and why he believes the hardest thing isn't asking for help, it's doing the work every single day after that.
