KENYAN STORIES — FAN FAVORITE - LYSANDRA CHEN: SHE SAW THE FUTURE BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE DID

KENYAN STORIES — FAN FAVORITE - LYSANDRA CHEN: SHE SAW THE FUTURE BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE DID Turning Uncertainty into Africa’s Freshest Vision What does it take to see an opportunity before the market is ready for it? Lysandra Chen and I go back to our teenage years — long before either of us could have known where those early ambitions would lead. Today, she is the CEO and Founder of Bring Fresh, an African startup built around a simple but powerful idea: rethink how fresh, organic food reaches people. But this isn't really a conversation about food. It is a conversation about vision. About building when there is no obvious blueprint.About choosing an unconventional path.About surviving uncertainty.About what happens when an idea arrives before the world is ready for it. This is one of the reasons Lysandra Chen became a Kenyan Stories fan favorite. It is also one of those conversations that changes when you hear it again. Two old friends. Two decades of stories. One very different view of what it means to build something that matters. KENYAN STORIES — THE STORIES OF OUR TIME Hosted and produced by Daniel Duwa. Kenyan Stories with Daniel Duwa — Shamim - The Hands That Dream in Color

Kenyan Stories with Daniel Duwa — Shamim: The Hands That Dream in Color She designs systems and paints poetry on skin in brilliant Henna art.An engineer. An artist. A woman who refuses to live in one dimension. In this episode, Daniel takes a walk with Shamim, the visionary behind enchanting henna creations that have graced weddings, cultural ceremonies, and bold personal expressions. Her journey is a testament to what happens when precision meets imagination — where mathematics transforms into flowing vines, and ambition becomes wearable art. Shamim opens up about the craft that shaped her confidence, the discipline that engineering demanded, and the joy of seeing people light up when her designs settle into their skin. Along the way, we discover a story of movement — a Kenyan woman stepping boldly into every space that calls her, refusing to choose between brilliance and beauty. This is the story of hands that don’t just decorate — they define.A life drawn line by line, with intention. ART | CONTENT | COACHING I’m Daniel Duwa, producer of Kenyan Stories. Kenyan Stories by Daniel Duwa speaks Beraccah Kisia - African Most Punk Artist

Beraccah Kisia is a Kenyan-born folk singer and songwriter whose relationship with music began long before she understood it as a craft. From echoing her mother’s improvised chore songs as a toddler to composing her first piece at nine, her voice has always carried a sense of honesty and emotional intelligence. She later studied music at George Fox University before returning home, where she expanded her work into music education — teaching privately and coaching emerging talent at the Kenya Conservatoire of Music and through the Katangoma Music and Movement Arts Program. Her approach blends technique, storytelling, and sensitivity to the emotional spaces artists occupy. Performing under the pseudonym August Cellars, she released her first album in 2012 and has since become a familiar presence on stages across Kenya, including Industry Night, Thursday Night Live at Choices, Women in Music Forum, Sama Eden, Blankets & Wine, and the Nairobi Rock Showcase. Her discography includes The Mountain EP and Special Day, the lead single from her upcoming project, The Journey EP. Beraccah’s sound draws from country, rock, blues, and ’80s pop — shaped by influences like Joan Armatrading and Sade, women of colour who carved out space for alternative, emotionally restorative music. In that lineage, Beraccah continues to build a catalogue defined by purity of tone, depth, and storytelling that feels lived-in. Beraccah Kisia (@bero.the.hero) I produce Kenyan Stories by Daniel Duwa Show.
