Voices of Black Women - Let's think about this..

Voices of Black Women - Let's think about this..

Tuskegee Syphilis Study - Henrietta Lacks - Holmesburg Prison, etc etc etc
Is it any wonder that Black persons haven't chosen to participate in medical studies.
For decades, other persons and and other companies profited from the research that was done on the HeLa (HEnrietta LAcks) cells without any acknowledge, profit or benefit offered to the family of Henrietta Lacks.
Thanks to Henrietta Lacks, legislation has been passed to study the reasons for those who have been under-represented in cancer clinical trials. The American Cancer Society has launched a study called Voices of Black Women. The goal is to recruit 100,000 Black women to study lifestyle , dietary habits, health issues and associations with cancer. The pressing question is how do you overcome the mistrust given the history We pose a suggestion for consideration. What’s your opinion?

From Urologist to Sexual Health Specialist

From Urologist to Sexual Health Specialist

As a urologist, Dr. Uloko was trained to address urologic and sexual issues of her male patients. However, when her female patients had a sexual concern, there were no protocols or best practices to follow. Her practice has developed into an advocacy for sexual health for both men and women.

Dr. Uloko completed a fellow at San Diego Seuxal Medicine where she expanded her knowlege, clinical skills in sexual health. Currently she provides care to both men and women. By caring for both sexes she has witness the disparity in sexual health care between men and women noting that unlike for women, men's sexual health is incorporated and always a consideration in the urologic treatments.

She elaborates on the current lack of treatment for menopause, the hormonal and sexual effects - compounded by lack of training of today's health care providers.
