    HDM s1 ep7 : The Fight to the Death

    For an episode titled 'The Fight to the Death', we didn't actually get to see any death, or even that much fighting. Pete and Laura recap the episode and then dive into a spoiler ridden after party section full of book knowledge and lamentation for what we'll never see on the small screen.  As usual, :::blanket spoiler warning::: if you haven't watched all current episodes.     HDM s1 ep 5 : The Lost Boy

    We continue to wonder whether our favorite book moments will ever see screen time as we pass the halfway point in the first season and continue to move through Lyra's world at breakneck pace. Opinions dujour: Dafne Keen's performance is about as peak-Lyra as we could ever hope for; we thought it would be a lot darker and snowier in the north; and the show makes two of its most suspect adaptation choices in the same episode. There is blanket spoiler warning for the whole episode if you are not up to date with the HBO/BBC adaptation of His Dark Materials. There is an additional spoiler warning for those who don't want to be spoiled by book knowledge beginning at 55:30.     We are back, and we have many opinions at the halfway point in the first season of the HBO/BBC adaptation of His Dark Materials. Laura and Pete recap the fourth episode of the series, share first impressions of some of the new characters introduced this episode, and discuss some of the choices the show makes.
