    Blue Duck Farm: Starting a Longhorn Herd, Data, Photography & Ranch Life

    In this episode, we sit down with Scott Kinsel of Blue Duck Farm, located about an hour outside of Houston, Texas. While Scott and his family spend most of their time in the city, Blue Duck has become their place to slow down, decompress, and enjoy life on the ranch. Scott is still relatively new to the Texas Longhorn industry, having started Blue Duck Farm just a year and a half ago. He shares how the journey began, what it was like attending his first Longhorn sale at the Fiesta Sale, and how those early purchases have grown into the herd he has today. We also talk about Scott’s passion for data and how he uses it to learn more about the breed, his horn prediction tool, and make decisions within his program. . Along the way, he shares his love of photography, the story behind the Blue Duck Farm name, and what he has discovered during his first few years in the Longhorn community.
