Webinar #302 Dr Peter Halestrap - The impact of training in mission hospitals

Recorded on 18 June 2026 for ICMDA Webinars. Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Dr Peter Halestrap Mission hospitals have historically played a vital role not only in delivering healthcare but also in training and mentoring healthcare workers. This educational ministry provides opportunities for mission hospitals to address local healthcare needs in a sustainable manner, with formally approved programmes enabling further influence and partnership potential. Training provides a wonderful environment in which discipleship can thrive, ensuring graduates have not only the requisite clinical skills but also a heart to use these gifts to serve God. In this session we will look together at the opportunities and challenges for mission hospitals involved in training to increase their impact, locally, globally and eternally. Pete Halestrap is a Family Medicine doctor (GP) from the UK. He works in a local clinic providing primary care alongside training medical students and GP registrars. He previously spent 11 years working in AIC Kijabe Hospital, Kenya, where he served in several roles including as Director of Education and Research. He supervised the College of Health Sciences as well as numerous residency programmes and was involved in the initiation of several new medical training programmes. He continues to work with the hospital's online learning team and serves on the education and research committee of the East, Central and Southern African College of Family Physicians. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/

Webinar #301 Dr Dick Kruijthoff - Healing after prayer

Recorded on 11 June 2026 for ICMDA Webinars. Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Dr Dick Kruijthoff In his family practice Dick Kruijthoff was confronted with a remarkable healing during prayer, that gained nationwide interest in the Netherlands. He wondered what had happened. It took him to a 12 year study at the Free University in Amsterdam investigating 83 reports of a healing experience during or after prayer. Eleven of them were labelled as ‘medically remarkable’ by a medical assessment team. The team was surprised by the impressive holistic dimensions of the experiences. The study led to a dissertation in scientific English in 2023 and a book explaining the findings in understandable Dutch in 2025. Dick Kruijthoff graduated in medicine and family medicine at the Erasmus university in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Subsequently he gained a degree in tropical medicine in Antwerp, Belgium, after which he worked in rural hospitals in Botswana, South Africa and Kenya for over five years.Upon his return to the Netherlands he had his own family practice from 1992 until 2021. Kruijthoff acquired a degree in elderly medicine in 2010. Since 2022 he works as an acting general practitioner in different practices. The PhD investigations in Amsterdam took place while working as a GP at the same time. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/

Recorded on 21 May 2026 for ICMDA Webinars. Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Dr Daniel O'Neill God’s word is a meta-narrative, and threaded throughout the ancient text is a healing meta-narrative. Understanding the healing purposes of God’s redemptive story allows us to weave our individual micro-narratives into this greater story.   This third of a three-part series will suggest a practical application of the biblical healing metanarrative in today’s post-modern world in healthcare, global public health, and missions. Applying biblical frameworks helps us wisely engage in the vital role of healthcare and global health engagement for the healing of all nations. Webinar #296 Dr Andy Bannister - The rise and fall of the new atheism

Recorded on 7 May 2026 for ICMDA Webinars. Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Dr Andy Bannister During the early twenty-first century, New Atheism was busy producing best-selling books and plastering adverts on the sides of buses. Its loud scepticism is not as popular these days, but many of its arguments live on. Yet, what if some of its common claims like "science has buried God" and "religion is the cause of most wars" are not just incorrect, but demonstrably wrong? What if Richard Dawkins and the other New Atheists were not merely barking up the wrong tree, but were in the wrong forest entirely? Andy is the Director of Solas and is an evangelist, speaker, writer, and broadcaster. From universities to churches, cafes to pubs, schools to workplaces, Andy regularly addresses audiences of both Christians and those of all faiths and none on issues relating to faith, culture, politics and society. He was co-editor and a contributing writer for Have You Ever Wondered? and authored How To Talk About Jesus Without Looking Like An Idiot, Do Muslims and Christians Worship the Same God? and The Atheist Who Didn’t Exist. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/ For more from Andy visit https://www.andybannister.net/
