https://youtu.be/TT1_m1IITWo Audio: Play the audio class Download: Download this MP3 Topics: Verses of Praise Follow-Along Text: מִזְמוֹר שִׁיר חֲנֻכַּת הַבַּיִת לְדָוִד׃ A psalm, a song for the dedication of the House, by David. אֲרוֹמִמְךָ יְיָ כִּי דִלִּיתָנִי, וְלֹא שִׂמַּחְתָּ אֹיְבַי לִי׃ I exalt you, O Lord, for You have raised me up, You did not enable my enemies to rejoice over me. יְיָ אֱלֹהָי, שִׁוַּעְתִּי אֵלֶיךָ וַתִּרְפָּאֵנִי׃ God, my Lord, I cried out to You and You healed me. יְיָ הֶעֱלִיתָ מִן שְׁאוֹל נַפְשִׁי, חִיִּיתָנִי מִיָּרְדִי בוֹר׃ God, You lifted my soul up from the grave; You granted me life, [saving me] from descending to the pit. זַמְּרוּ לַייָ חֲסִידָיו, וְהוֹדוּ לְזֵכֶר קָדְשׁוֹ׃ His pious ones, make music for God, and give thanks, recalling His holy [name]. כִּי רֶגַע בְּאַפּוֹ, חַיִּים בִּרְצוֹנוֹ, בָּעֶרֶב יָלִין בֶּכִי וְלַבֹּקֶר רִנָּה׃ For His anger endures for only a moment; when He is appeased, life is granted. In the evening, one retires weeping; in the morning, he rejoices. וַאֲנִי אָמַרְתִּי בְשַׁלְוִי, בַּל אֶמּוֹט לְעוֹלָם׃ During the time of my tranquility, I said, “I will never falter.” יְיָ בִּרְצוֹנְךָ הֶעֱמַדְתָּה לְהַרְרִי עֹז, הִסְתַּרְתָּ פָנֶיךָ, הָיִיתִי נִבְהָל׃ God, when You desired, You made my [strength] stand sturdily like a mountain; when You hid Your face, I was terrified. אֵלֶיךָ יְיָ אֶקְרָא, וְאֶל יְיָ אֶתְחַנָּן׃ To You, God, I call out, and I plead to the Lord. מַה בֶּצַע בְּדָמִי בְּרִדְתִּי אֶל שַׁחַת, הֲיוֹדְךָ עָפָר הֲיַגִּיד אֲמִתֶּךָ׃ What is to be gained by [shedding] my blood, in my going down to the grave? Will dust praise You and relate Your truth? שְׁמַע יְיָ וְחָנֵּנִי, יְיָ הֱיֵה עֹזֵר לִי׃ Hear me, God, and be gracious unto me; God, be a Helper for me. הָפַכְתָּ מִסְפְּדִי לְמָחוֹל לִי, פִּתַּחְתָּ שַׂקִּי וַתְּאַזְּרֵנִי שִׂמְחָה׃ You have transformed my mourning into a dance for me; You have loosened my sackcloth and girded me with happiness, לְמַעַן יְזַמֶּרְךָ כָבוֹד וְלֹא יִדֹּם, יְיָ אֱלֹהַי, לְעוֹלָם אוֹדֶךָּ׃ so that my soul will play music to You and not fall silent. God my Lord, I will thankfully acknowledge You forever.
