FTV Postpartum Back And Knee Pain Fixes

Send us Fan Mail Did you know that back and knee pain are very common post partum? Back in 2023 I recieved an email from a listener and that's what this week's show is all about; "I recently joined your program after reading your article about the connection between Diastasis Recti and lower back pain. After a few days of your workouts, I'm already feeling a difference. Your explanation of core breathing was a breakthrough for me.    I'm currently 10 months postpartum and had an elective c-section back in October. I've been experiencing significant lower back soreness, particularly at night and in the morning. It's uncomfortable to turn over in bed and stand up especially getting out of bed in the morning - it feels like things are compressing downwards when I do. Glute bridges are also painful, requiring about 10 minutes of mobilisation before I can fully perform them. Although my suspected annual tear from January has improved, I still feel twinges during glute bridges, which I suspect are related to the lower back pain due to Diastasis Recti.  Additionally, I've been having a sharp pain in my left knee during reverse lunges, while my right knee is fine. I also have a painful coccyx which seems to only hurt when I stand from a sitted position.  Despite all this, I'm determined to get stronger. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you might have. " So I'm going over everything; Why the corebreath makes such a difference. Lower back-pain and the feeling of it compressing downwards, Why she needs soo much mobilisation before being able to do glute bridges. Back twinges during glute bridges. The sharp knee pain when doing reverse lunges. And the disturbing lack of post-partum care for this woman as all of this stuff is fairly easily sorted. Here's a link to the blog about kneepain which includes the Yoga video. And here's a link to the corebreath video  As always; HPNB still only has 5 billing cycles. Inter Connectivity; Why Postpartum Recovery Depends On Politics, Poverty, Inequality, Environment etc

Send us Fan Mail After the episode about the "state of maternity care in the NHS", I had an email asking why I spoke about maternity care/pre-natal care/medical bias etc on a postpartum podcast, and it's an excellent question. As those who follow me on Threads, the only social media platform I'm active on, will know; I talk about many, many things on there..and hardly any straightforward postpartum recovery stuff. That's because it's ALL connected; From the clothes we buy to protests about people in other nations, right to free speech, wealth inequality etc. everything is linked with everything else. And that means there is a direct link between postpartum care and all these things, you jst need to see it. And, once you see it you simply can not unsee it and, if you then REALLY care about women's postpartum health you HAVE TO care about those other things. Anyways; That's what today's episode is all about..next week we go back to talking about diastasis recti, I promise ;) As always; HPNB still only has 5 billing cycles. FTV; Are NMN and NAD+ really the super supplements people claim?

Send us Fan Mail After the episode from 2 weeks ago where I covered Protein, creatine etc.  This week I'm tackling some of today's talked-about/hyped supplements and explain why it's crucial to approach them with a healthy dose of skepticism. Promising to clarify the role of trendy options like NAD, NAD+, and NMN,  Can boosting naturally declining NAD levels truly reverse aging? And should you trust wellness gurus who pivot from publishing to selling supplements with scant evidence?  With non-human studies forming the backbone of much of the current research, you'll hear why investing in healthy lifestyle habits like exercise and diet might be your best bet.  I also call out the pattern of wellness figures capitalizing on fleeting trends, urging you to stay informed and cautious about what's genuinely effective for your health. Link to the study I mentioned As always; HPNB still only has 5 billing cycles. So this means that you not only get 3 months FREE access, no obligation! The state of postpartum care in the UK..Where it fails and how to fix it

Send us Fan Mail This week I bring you an episode on the state of postpartum care, as it relates to the mother, in the UK. Basically I have a look at where it fails, and it does, why it fails. How it can be improved and I even give a quick breakdown of the cost of improving it. It's nowhere near as expensive as you might think it is, and it's outrageous that it's not been done yet. Some show notes at the bottom so you have access to the figures that I used. As always; HPNB only has 5 billing cycles. So this means that you not only get 3 months FREE access, no obligation! "Life Specific" Postpartum Rehab is key, especially when you have a disability or impairment

Send us Fan Mail I had a wonderful conversation with someone this week where she asked if a post-partum recovery program should be LIFE specific, if not sport specific. This was because she did not have use of her right leg, after an amputation, and she wondered if this meant that a postpartum recovery program would have to be amended to reflect this. This is an excellent question for anyone with a disability or an impairment, in fact it's soo ridiculously good that I'm surprised I hadn't thought of doing an episode about this before. I have spoken before about sport-specific postpartum programs not being required, so I don't spend a lot of time on that, but LIFE specific is very important indeed..so that's what I'm going into  bit today. How can you plan a life-specific program? When do you need a personalised program instead of a cookie cutter program, like HPNB? Can you work it out for yourself, and how? And why you should never ask ChatGPT for one. And much more. As always; HPNB still only has 5 billing cycles! So this means that you not only get 3 months FREE access, no obligation! BUT, if you decide you want to do the rest of the program, after only 5 months of paying $10/£8 a month you now get FREE LIFE TIME ACCESS! That's $50 max spend, in case you were wondering. This means you can sign up after your first child, use the program and recover and then still have access after giving birth to child 2 and 3! None of this "pay X amount a year" nonsense, once you've paid..you've paid! This makes HPNB not just the most efficient and complete post-partum recovery program, it's also BY FAR the best value. FTV Exercise during pregnancy and charlatans attacking C-sections

Send us Fan Mail FTV This week I am a little bit upset. Not about the first subject which follows a question about what type of exercise, and at which intensity, is safe to do during pregnancy. That's a great question and a doddle to answer :) But I'm upset about the single worst Instagram video I have seen from someone working with babies. Here it is for those of you who want to have a look. The Osteopath in the video is making LOADS of dumb, and I do mean idiotic, claims about the effects of a C-section on a baby's spine and it's health. He claims the "lumbar spine is reversed" or "missing" and that is clearly complete and utter nonsense. But the video has 400k likes and this grifter has 600k followers. So I go over some of the idiotic claims people make online to scare those of you wanting, or needing, a C-section into parting with your money. And then there's a bit of jazz to calm me down :) As always; HPNB still only has 5 billing cycles! So this means that you not only get 3 months FREE access, no obligation! Above Navel diastasis, baby skin biome, hormone supplements and a better bra boosts performance!

Send us Fan Mail FTV;  In this week's episode I answer some of the questions that have come up this week. I talk about above navel diastasis and how the approach to recovery is slightly different from below navel, or completely open, DR. It's remarkably straightforward but still important to note the difference. I'm also talking about whether you should wash your baby with soap every day or not. Hormone therapies, are they an important addition to your health regime and who can you trust to provide them? And, finally, a study about the importance of wearing a proper bra when exercising. Seriously, get one fitted if you can afford it! The actual research article can be found here As always; HPNB only has 5 billing cycles.
