    Weather Service: More rain today; gusty Friday to be follow by sunny, warmer weekend -- and then more rain.

    Meteorologist Adam Baker with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City -- one of our favorites from the old radio edition -- hosts this week's weather forecast update. Among the updates: *WIND ADVISORY, 5 a.m.- 7 p.m. Friday.  Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph expected. * WHERE...Portions of north and central Georgia. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.   Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may  result. Also: Drier and warmer over the weekend and then more rain next week.

    National Weather Service: Update on wintry weather to our north overnight Thursday, Saturday morning. Plus: Much more rain next week.

    Welcome to the National Weather Service's weekly weather briefing that includes: A look at the possibility of wintry weather in Chattooga and Gordon counties overnight; no accumulation. A possible dusting very early Saturday morning. Two to three more inches of rain next week following a very soggy February.

    National Weather Service's special briefing on wintry weather expected Thursday as well as more rain, colder temperatures, potential black ice.

    Northwest Georgia, already coping with an extra 1.5 to 2 inches of rain this week, will see more rain Thursday. Some areas to our north -- including Gordon and Chattooga counties -- could see wintry precipitation as well. Some snow is possible as well as freezing rain. Another concern for Friday morning, as temperatures drop below freezing, is the potential for black ice. While north central and northeast Georgia will see more winter weather, there's a potential in parts of Northwest Georgia as well. This post is the briefing about what's ahead and what's possible from the National Weather Service's Peachtree City office.

    Jay Shell's Creek Stories: 'Beware Brown Red, undisputed rooster champ -- and my buddy.'

    You know Jay Shell as a father, a husband, a successful businessman and a "kids first" member of the Floyd County Board of Education. But how about Jay Shell, Kid Cockfighter? Jay is writing a book about some of his unique adventures growing up in Spring Garden, Ala. Perhaps considered poor by some, Jay wouldn't trade those days for anything. He embraces them for making him what he is today. And after listening to the tales of Brown Red the rooster, you'll know why. In this inaugural podcast, Jay shares one of the more colorful adventures of his champion pet rooster and the day Brown Red took down the vaunted Silver Bullet, an experience that changed Jay's life for ever. Please spend around 30 minutes with some of the most colorful tales of a childhood few others have experienced.

    The Druck Report: Remembering the legendary K-98 with owner Mills Fitzner.

    Thirteen years ago, Rome's K-98 FM left the airwaves and transitioned into Northwest Georgia's home of Georgia Public Broadcasting.  Mills Fitzner, who with his wife Cheryl assembled a team of local-first broadcasters and support staff, guided one of the most successful radio stations in Northwest Georgia. Mills joins John Druckenmiller of Hometown Headlines -- who spent a few minutes on air delivering the afternoon's latest headlines to K-98 listeners -- to talk about the station, the personalities and the causes they supported.
