    Christ in You

Many Christians carry a quiet anxiety that they are missing something in their faith, always searching for the next book, conference, or spiritual technique to unlock a deeper level. But the book of Colossians cuts through that restlessness with a simple and profound truth. Before Christ, every person was alienated from God, not just by their actions, but by the very orientation of their heart and mind. Through His death on the cross, Jesus accomplished a complete reconciliation, presenting believers holy, blameless, and above reproach before God. The security of that salvation does not rest on our grip on faith but on Christ's grip on us. The great mystery that Paul reveals is not a hidden technique or advanced spiritual knowledge. It is Christ in you, living inside every person who comes to Him in faith. The gospel that brought you to Christ is the same gospel that carries you forward. You are not missing a secret. You have Christ.

    The Wonderful One

Jesus is far more than a kind teacher or a gentle historical figure. In Colossians 1, Paul presents Him as the image of the invisible God, the one through whom all things were created and in whom all things hold together. He is the head of the church, the fullness of God in human flesh, and the one who made peace through the blood of His cross. The creator of all things became the reconciler of all things, not by force, but through suffering and death. No philosophy, ritual, or spiritual experience can be added to Him, because nothing is missing. The one who holds the universe together is the same one who gave His life for you.

    An Embarrassing Cameo

The arrest of Jesus in Gethsemane reveals profound truths about betrayal and divine love. Judas used a kiss of affection to betray Jesus, showing how betrayal is most devastating when disguised as devotion. While Peter violently defended Jesus and the disciples fled in fear, Jesus remained in complete control, choosing to submit to arrest to fulfill Scripture. This scene demonstrates that our salvation doesn't depend on human faithfulness but entirely on Christ's unwavering resolve to walk willingly toward the cross for our sake.

    The Cup

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus experienced his most vulnerable moment, wrestling with unimaginable anguish before his crucifixion. The name Gethsemane means oil press, symbolizing how pressure produces something valuable. Jesus wasn't simply afraid of death - he was facing the cup of God's wrath against sin that he would drink on our behalf. After intense prayer and divine strengthening, Jesus rose with resolve to fulfill his Father's will. His sacrifice means believers never have to face God's condemnation, as Jesus absorbed the full punishment our sins deserved.

    Grace at the Table

The Last Supper reveals Jesus' profound love in the face of certain betrayal. During this sacred Passover meal, Jesus transformed a thousand-year-old tradition by declaring the bread and wine as His body and blood. He knew exactly who He was dining with - a betrayer, cowards who would flee, and followers who would deny Him. Yet to these very people, Jesus gave Himself completely. This demonstrates that Jesus doesn't wait for us to prove ourselves worthy before loving us. We are far more capable of betrayal than we think, but we are also far more loved than we could ever imagine.

    Extravagant Devotion

In the final week of Jesus' life, while religious leaders plotted his death, a woman performed an extraordinary act of devotion by breaking an expensive alabaster flask and pouring pure nard over Jesus' head. The disciples criticized her actions as wasteful, but Jesus defended her, calling it a beautiful thing. He revealed that she understood what others missed - that he was about to die and she wanted to express her love while she could. This story teaches us that extravagant devotion to Jesus only looks excessive until we truly understand who he is and what he has done for us.
