📸 From Free Models to Fully Booked: How One Lash Artist Built Her Business - 116

What does it actually take to go from being a beginner lash artist to becoming fully booked? In this episode of the Full Time Lash Artist Podcast, I sit down with one of my former students to talk about how she went from practicing on free models, creating content every day, and working from home to building a loyal clientele, moving into her own suite, and growing into a lash artist, trainer, and business owner. Her journey is a perfect example of what can happen when you stop waiting for everything to be perfect and start putting in the work. You’ll learn: ✨ Why beginner lash artists need to work on a lot of models  ✨ How doing 30–50 models can help build confidence and muscle memory  ✨ Why free models are not a waste of time  ✨ How models can help you create before-and-after content  ✨ Why learning how to take better lash photos matters  ✨ How posting consistently helped her get noticed locally  ✨ How she went from free models to slowly charging for services  ✨ Why some models eventually became regular paying clients  ✨ How referrals helped grow her clientele naturally  ✨ Why Facebook and Instagram were important in the beginning  ✨ How simple promotions helped bring in more appointments  ✨ How she went from doing deliveries to becoming fully booked with lashes  ✨ Why investing back into education helped her expand into volume lashes  ✨ How additional training helped her offer more options to clients  ✨ What it was like starting a lash business from a small apartment  ✨ How she knew it was time to move from home into a professional suite  ✨ Why setting up a booking system early made the transition easier  ✨ How repeat refill clients helped create more consistent income  ✨ Why reputation and professionalism matter just as much as technique  ✨ How client experience helped her stand out from other lash artists  ✨ Why having your own space can create more motivation and responsibility  ✨ How a new location can push you to create more content, practice more, and grow faster  ✨ Why working too much can eventually lead to burnout  ✨ How the journey can evolve from lash artist to trainer and brand owner One of the biggest lessons from this conversation is that the beginning does not have to look glamorous. You may be working from home. You may be taking free models. You may still be learning how to take pictures. You may be posting every day while barely anyone knows who you are. But every model gives you practice. Every picture gives you content. Every referral introduces you to someone new. And every returning client gives you another piece of the business you are trying to build. You don’t have to start fully booked. You have to start consistently. Because the path from beginner to business owner is built one model, one client, and one appointment at a time. ✨ 5 Things I’d Do Differently If I Started My Lash Career Today - 115

If I had to start my lash career from zero today, knowing everything I know now, there are five things I would do differently. When you’re a beginner lash artist, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. You see experienced artists creating perfect sets, building beautiful brands, attracting clients, and growing businesses—and you start wondering how you’re supposed to catch up. But you don’t need to do everything at once. In this episode of the Full Time Lash Artist Podcast, I’m sharing the five things I would focus on if I were starting my lash journey again today. You’ll learn: ✨ Why I would start creating content from the very beginning ✨ Why you shouldn’t wait until your lash sets look perfect before posting ✨ How documenting your progress can become powerful content later ✨ Why comparing your beginning to another artist’s advanced work can destroy your confidence ✨ How to focus on mastering one skill at a time ✨ Why strong fundamentals matter more than chasing advanced techniques too early ✨ What I would look for before investing in a lash training class ✨ Why I would choose one high-quality training instead of collecting multiple cheap certifications ✨ Why your trainer should teach more than just lash application ✨ How business and marketing education can prepare you for what happens after certification ✨ Why practicing on real models is essential for building confidence ✨ How working on different eye shapes and natural lashes improves your skills ✨ Why mannequin practice is helpful—but cannot replace working on real people ✨ How repetition helps develop muscle memory and speed ✨ Why marketing yourself has to become part of your job as a lash artist ✨ How consistently posting helps potential clients discover you ✨ Why you should create content even when your audience is still small ✨ How tools like ChatGPT, Canva, CapCut, and scheduling apps can make content creation easier ✨ How to batch one recording session into multiple pieces of content ✨ Why consistency matters more than trying to look perfect online One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you never know where one skill can take you. When I started my own lash journey, I couldn’t see exactly what the next several years would look like. That’s why I believe you should start documenting the process now. - Show the practice. - Show the improvement. - Show the mistakes. - Show the journey. One day, your future clients or students may look back at those early posts and realize that you started exactly where they are starting. You don’t need to become an expert overnight. Invest in the right education, master your foundations, practice on as many people as possible, stay visible, and focus on becoming a little better every time you pick up your tweezers. Because the lash artist you want to become later is being built by what you do today. 🎓 From Student to Lash Business Owner: Building a Business From Scratch - 114

What does it actually look like to go from learning lashes to building a business of your own? In this episode of the Full Time Lash Artist Podcast, I sit down with my former student Anna to talk about the real journey behind becoming an independent lash artist—from learning the technique and building confidence to attracting clients, leaving salon life, and creating a business on your own terms. This isn’t a story about overnight success. It’s about practice, consistency, client relationships, making mistakes, and continuing to move forward even when you’re starting from zero. In this episode, you’ll learn: ✨ How Anna went from student to independent lash artist ✨ What it was really like transitioning away from working in a salon ✨ Why becoming your own boss requires more than being good at lashes ✨ How practice and consistency helped improve speed, technique, and confidence ✨ Why you shouldn’t expect yourself to be perfect when you’re just starting ✨ How to begin building clientele when nobody knows your name yet ✨ Why there is still room for new lash artists—even in a competitive market ✨ How creating genuine relationships can turn clients into loyal long-term customers ✨ Why the client experience matters just as much as the finished lash set ✨ How controlling your own schedule can completely change your relationship with work ✨ Why pricing too low in the beginning can make growing your business harder later ✨ How social media and simply showing your work can help people discover you ✨ Why consistency online matters even before your calendar is full ✨ What to look for when choosing the right lash training and mentor ✨ Why continued support after your certification can make such a difference ✨ How your workspace, tools, posture, and environment affect you as a full-time artist ✨ What it takes to move from lash artist into lash trainer ✨ Why your first goal doesn’t need to be building a huge company—it needs to be building a strong foundation Anna’s journey is also a reminder that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. You can start as a student. You can start without clients. You can start without the perfect Instagram page, salon, or business plan. But you have to practice, put yourself out there, learn how to serve your clients, and keep improving. Over time, those small decisions begin to compound. The student becomes the lash artist. The lash artist becomes the business owner. And eventually, the person who once needed guidance can become the trainer helping someone else start their own journey. If you’re a beginner lash artist wondering whether it’s really possible to turn your skill into a full-time business, this episode is for you. Because every successful lash business starts the same way: With one person deciding to start. 🧠 Why Beginner Lash Artists Need to Think Long-Term - 113

What if the free lash set you’re worried about “losing money” on could turn into a client worth thousands of dollars over time? When you’re a beginner lash artist, it’s easy to focus on what’s happening today: how long your sets take, how much you’re charging, whether your content looks perfect, or what people might think when you post. But building a successful lash business requires you to think beyond your first appointment. In this episode of the Full Time Lash Artist Podcast, I’m sharing the mindset and strategies that helped me go from a beginner lash artist in 2018 to building my career over the next eight years. You’ll learn: ✨ Why you should think about the long-term value of every new lash client ✨ How a free or discounted full set can turn into recurring revenue ✨ Why getting the client through the door is only the first step ✨ How clean, correct, and healthy lash application helps create returning clients ✨ Why beginners shouldn’t rush their lash sets ✨ How to communicate with clients when your appointments still take longer ✨ Why honesty about being a beginner can actually build trust ✨ How models and promotional offers can help grow your clientele ✨ Why I started creating content before I felt completely confident ✨ Why your accent, language, or fear of judgment shouldn’t stop you from posting ✨ How being consistently visible can help build your personal brand ✨ Why educational content gives people a reason to keep following you ✨ How scheduling tools can keep your social media active even when you’re busy ✨ Why I still work with models after years in the lash industry ✨ How models give you more freedom to create content, experiment, and photograph your work ✨ Why you should build your business today with your future career in mind When I started in 2018, I couldn’t know exactly where my lash journey would take me. That’s why I believe you should think big even when your business is still small. Don’t wait until your English is perfect. Don’t wait until you feel like an expert. Don’t wait until every lash set is Instagram-perfect before you start showing up. If you have something valuable to teach, share it.If you need more experience, practice. If you need content, work with models. And if someone gives you the opportunity to turn a first appointment into a loyal client, give them an experience that makes them want to come back. Because the business you want eight years from now is built by what you consistently do today. 🎯 How to Get Your First Lash Clients as a Beginner - 112

How do you get lash clients when you’re still a beginner and nobody knows your business yet? Learning how to apply lashes is only the first step. You also need to understand how to attract the right people, create an offer that gets their attention, and give them a reason to keep coming back. In this episode of the Full Time Lash Artist Podcast, I’m sharing the client-attraction strategies that helped me grow when I was starting my lash career. You’ll learn: ✨ Why consistent posting is essential for attracting new clients ✨ How strong before-and-after photos can stop people from scrolling ✨ The introductory promotion that helped me bring clients through the door ✨ How to use a discounted classic set without permanently lowering your value ✨ Why showing clients different lash styles can increase the value of their appointment ✨ How to professionally explain the price difference between classic, volume, and wispy sets ✨ Why a simple promotion can continue working for months ✨ How to use local Facebook groups to find models and potential clients ✨ How ChatGPT can help you write more attractive promotional posts ✨ What to say when offering free practice sets as a beginner ✨ Why complimentary appointments should be viewed as an investment ✨ How one free set can turn into a long-term paying client ✨ Why client lifetime value matters more than the price of the first appointment ✨ What you must do during the service to encourage clients to return ✨ Why clean, healthy, and properly applied lashes are the foundation of retention I also explain why beginners need to change the way they think about free or discounted services. You may feel like you are losing money by offering a complimentary set, but the real goal is not only to complete one appointment. The goal is to create an excellent experience, earn the client’s trust, and turn that first visit into regular refills every two or three weeks. One loyal client can be worth thousands of dollars over time. But getting someone through the door is only the beginning. Your technique, professionalism, client experience, and ability to create a safe and beautiful set are what bring them back. Because the best beginner promotion doesn’t just attract attention. It creates a returning client. Connect with Cosmina on IG Sign Up For A Free Lash Training Text Me Here On My Podcast Contact Any Questions About My Lash Classes

🚀 5 Things I Would Do If I Started My Lash Career Today - 111

What would I do differently if I had to start my lash career all over again? After approximately eight years in the lash and beauty industry, I’ve learned that becoming a successful lash artist requires much more than completing a certification and learning how to apply extensions. In this episode of the Full Time Lash Artist Podcast, I’m sharing the five most important things I would do if I were beginning my lash journey today. You’ll learn: ✨ Why I would start documenting my journey from day one  ✨ Why your content doesn’t have to be perfect when you’re a beginner  ✨ How early content can demonstrate your progress to future clients and students  ✨ Why comparing yourself to advanced lash artists can slow your growth  ✨ How to focus on the fundamentals instead of trying to master everything immediately  ✨ Why I would invest in one comprehensive training program  ✨ What to research before choosing a lash trainer  ✨ Why the cheapest lash class may cost you more in the long run  ✨ How technical training and business education work together  ✨ Why practicing on real models is essential for developing confidence  ✨ How working with different natural lashes and eye shapes improves your skills  ✨ When you may be ready to move from models to regular clients  ✨ Why being talented isn’t enough if potential clients can’t find you  ✨ How consistently creating content can help grow your lash business  ✨ How to batch and repurpose one video into a full week of posts  ✨ Which tools can make content creation and scheduling easier I also explain why beginner lash artists shouldn’t wait until their sets look perfect before showing their work. Your early content becomes proof of your development. One day, your future clients and students may look back at those first posts and see how much commitment, practice, and growth went into building your career. You don’t have to become an advanced artist overnight. Build your foundation, invest in the right education, practice consistently, stay visible, and give yourself permission to improve publicly. Because your lash career doesn’t begin when everything becomes perfect. It begins the moment you decide to start. 👁️ Wispy Classic Lashes: How to Create Texture Without Volume Fans - 110

Can you create wispy, wet, and textured lash sets even if you’ve only learned classic lashes? Yes—and in this episode of the Full Time Lash Artist Podcast, I’m breaking down exactly how I use classic and double-classic application techniques to create some of my favorite lash styles. One of my favorite techniques is wispy classic. Instead of applying the same length throughout the set, I combine different lengths, diameters, and sometimes curls to create visible texture while still keeping the lashes natural. You’ll learn: ✨ How I create my wispy classic lash sets ✨ Why I prefer 0.15 for traditional classic lashes ✨ Why I avoid using thicker 0.18 and 0.20 lashes ✨ How to combine 0.15 and 0.10 lashes in one set ✨ How to create double classics using two 0.10 lashes ✨ How to use longer and shorter lengths to create wispy texture ✨ Why I like using approximately a 3 mm difference between lengths ✨ How to combine C, CC, and D curls without making the set too dramatic ✨ Which clients are good candidates for wispy classic lashes ✨ Why sparse, thin, or fragile natural lashes may require a different approach ✨ How to begin creating the wet lash effect without making traditional volume fans ✨ How many lashes you can pick up together depending on the look you’re creating I also explain why you can’t choose a lash style based only on what looks beautiful in a photo. You have to look at your client’s natural lashes, their density, layers, and strength before deciding which technique makes sense. If you’re a beginner lash artist who has learned classic application but wants to start creating more textured and modern sets, this episode will give you techniques you can start practicing right away. You don’t always need an advanced volume technique to create a different look. Sometimes changing your lengths, diameter, curl, and placement can completely change the finished set. 🔥 3 Modern Lash Sets You Can Create as a Beginner - 109

Do you need to master volume lashes before you can start offering trendy lash sets? Not necessarily. In this episode of the Full Time Lash Artist Podcast, I’m showing you how you can take the classic lash application techniques you already know and use them to create some of today’s most requested lash looks. We’re talking about wispy lashes, wet effect lashes, and eyeliner effect lashes—and how small changes in thickness, curl, length, and the number of extensions you pick up can completely transform the final result. You’ll learn: ✨ How to create a wispy classic lash set using different lengths ✨ How to create a wet effect without making traditional volume fans ✨ How many extensions to pick up depending on the thickness you’re using ✨ When to use 0.10, 0.07, 0.05, or 0.03 lashes ✨ How I work with clients who have very fine, blonde natural lashes ✨ How to create a darker lash line without adding unnecessary weight ✨ My micro-swab technique for keeping wet effect lashes closed together ✨ How to create an eyeliner effect using classic or double-classic application ✨ Why M Curl is one of my favorites for a sharp eyeliner look ✨ How to transition from short inner corners into a dramatic outer corner ✨ How beginner lash artists can practice these techniques on a mannequin or cosmetic sponge ✨ Why understanding lash weight becomes more important as you pick up more extensions ✨ How to create more texture while still keeping the finished set natural One of the biggest changes I’m seeing in the lash industry is the move toward softer, classier, and more natural-looking sets. Clients still want their lashes to make a difference—but that doesn’t always mean creating an extremely dark or dramatic volume lash line. And if you’re a beginner who has already learned classic lashes, you don’t have to wait until you’ve mastered every volume technique to start experimenting with these looks. Practice the techniques, understand your diameters and lash weight, and start expanding what you can offer your clients. Because sometimes creating a completely different lash look doesn’t require learning an entirely new application method—it requires learning how to use the techniques you already know differently.
