I keep coming to this podcast for useful advice and insight. Then I find myself in a 45 min plus complain podcast between two people. I wish they would become more objective and less complaining. This last episode on celebrity will be my last.

We speak beauty is a wonderful podcast for people who aspires to work in beauty industry. I am a very new makeup artist who started about five of six months ago, but I have been following and listening to We Speak Beauty for much more time than that. In fact, it was this very podcast encouraged me to turn my interest into my profession. When I first found out about this podcast, I was amazed by how Lottie and Lindsey broke down the beauty industry and how clear they explained the work of a makeup artist. Before that, beautiful makeup was just fantasy that exists in magazines and on runways. The life of a makeup artist that works with beautiful models is something that I would never dare to think about. However, this podcast makes it easy to understand what it means to be a professional and what one needs to do for their career. It really makes me realize doing makeup is just like any other job under the sun. More importantly, it shows me that people working in the industry are like-minded as me, and they care about the same thing that I would care about, both of which I had struggled to find in my previous jobs. I always go back to episodes on assisting and also certain interviews. Besides being inspiring, they help me to adjust my expectations about my job and also to focus on what I really need to work on. (Some products recommendation are also tremendous helpful) I feel so fortunate that I am able to know a lot about the job and the industry very early on in my career. Knowing some feelings are actually not unusual in artist helps me to get through a lot of down moments. I am still very new and still crappy at a lot of my work, but more or less I am happy about what I am doing, and I am slowly feeling I am working on something right. A lot has to thank to this podcasts . I will never forget about the days during lockdowns when things are so slow and so dark, I put on We Speak Beauty and listen to Lottie and Lindsey talk about makeup and everything feels so much hope. As a fellow makeup artist and part of a community that can feel daunting at times, they bring honesty and insight into each conversation. I love this podcast. Lottie and Lindsey are not only working pros with decades of experience, but they are incredibly generous with their knowledge and expertise. I think it’s important to grow and evolve as artists and I always learn something from every episode. I urge any working artists to listen to this podcast on the regular; I promise you will walk away smarter and more efficient. It’s relatable, useful content that you can continue to use through your career!
