    Understanding Principles - Better Living

Send us Fan Mail Rev. Sherri James is my guest. She is a mother, spiritual teacher, author and minister with a deep commitment to live practice. For the past nine years, she has been the Senior Minister of Understanding Principles for Better Living in Inglewood, California (“Up Church”). Her work is grounded in daily practices that quietly transform a life over time. She teaches spiritual principles the way they are actually lived – through disruption, repetition, patience and trust. She is also a wealth coach, a financial professional and founder of the Sherri James Company.  Sherri is an avid student of ancient wisdom. She helps bring people closer to their lifelong goals. Sherri is the daughter of a radical Mom (for the time) who is a thinker and a seeker. She insisted on Sherri being a thinker. Her mother - a single mother of three, is an active member of Understanding Principles now, but when Sherri was 13, her mother stopped going to church and told Sherri that what those people were telling her was not the Truth but was rhetoric. This influenced Sherri. Her mother empowered her to choose spirituality but reject the parts that didn't work. She exposed Sherri to Tony Robbins and Les Brown. She knew about Rev. Johnnie Coleman and knew that Della Reese was ordained by Johnnie Coleman. Sherri felt the message of Della Reese was the message for the 21st Century. You could learn a spirituality that was embracing a faith and which embraced other traditions. Sherri attended the Johnnie Coleman Institute. This was deeply appealing to Sherri.  In the Summer of 1998, Sherri attended the Panorama of Truth with the intention of seeing Johnnie Coleman, but Mary Tumpkin was the guest speaker that day. And Sherri's life has never been the same. Sherri was a Rev. Mary "groupie". Sherri got grounded in L.A. and was routed there. Rev. Della told Sherri that she had prayed about an Assistant Minister, and God told her it was Sherri. Sherri wrote a children's book based on the Bible story of Elijah and the widow with the oil. Reading that story led her to write on it every day. She came to understand the agency of prayer. Sherri wrote a book with Mark Allen in 2009 called "The Money Poems". The book gives the reader the opportunity to rewrite your money story. Sherri's prayer journals changed her life. In October 2010, she took a job. As an entrepreneur, her identity was crushed by taking a job she hated. She was failing in a sales job at the time when Sherri became Assistant Minister at UP Church. She used the power of affirmations to help her improve her sales and build spiritual momentum. She got promoted several times and ended up with an expense account, and an office. This changed her life. A teenage niece had a baby and needed help. Sherri became his mother when he was 14 months old. Her gestation period was one week. Rev. Della threw a party and Sherri came in late to find out that Della had turned over the church to her. Rev. Sherri had no village to help her raise him. He is now 12 1/2 years old. She has taken him with her while she does her ministry. He is gifted and becoming a young man of whom Rev. Sherri is proud. Rev. Sherri came to "Celebrating Our Soul" ("COS") in 2022 because her peers were going. It was a rich, warm and inviting experience. She was a Master Class presenter in 2024. In 2026, Rev. Sherri said yes to coming on the Planning Team in 2026. She found the conference valuable for her to be in community with other New Thought organizations. It deepened her spiritual experience in New Thought.   Support the show Donate – CelesteFrazier.com

    Transforming Love

Send us Fan Mail Rev. Shaheerah Stephens is the senior minister and founding minister of Transforming Love Community (TLC) in Detroit, Michigan. Shaheerah was the director of the Alzheimers Association in Detroit. She was teaching and traveling, doing workshops everywhere. She went to help assist the minister, but the board required her to go to the Unity School of Ministry in order to help her. Rev. Shaheerah was told by Spirit to say yes. Spirit guaranteed her that It would be there to assist her. And it has been this way for 28 years. Rev. Shaheerah sold their building in 2022, after the pandemic, and now has an online community. It's now a global ministry.  At the Unity School, there was racism there. Rev. Shaheerah noticed that Johnnie Colemon understood that melanated people needed these teachings and Shaheerah noticed that as well. Rev. Shaheerah noticed that Rev. Johnnie did not lose their culture. TLC has brought the culture and the teachings together.   The New Thought teachings were underground in the 60s and 70's, but it is mainstream now. In this season, TLC is prepared for this. Rev. Shaheerah has studied the celestials and therefore she is prepared for this. Shaheerah feels like we need a Guide right now, and that Guide is the Holy Spirit. Rev. Shaheerah is a keynote speaker for "Celebrating Our Soul 2026", which is happening August 13th through 16th. There will be great speakers, great workshops and great food there. Rev. Shaheerah recognizes that God is Love. She left the Baptist religion that focuses on fear. She wants people to know that we are Love. Love is one of the 12 transforming powers of the Unity Movement. They each describe a state of consciousness. The 12 disciples represent the places in consciousness. Each disciple represents a power. The Power of Love is ruled by the disciple John (ruled by the heart). Similar to the chakras, these powers are already inside of us.  Rev. Shaheerah has used the Unity principles to heal herself even now. She's writing a book: "Healing Out Loud Cause Healing Made Me Sick". She recognizes that the breath of God is breathing her. We become ill because we are out of alignment. The auto immune diseases impact women significantly. Rev. Shaheerah feels it is her duty to teach. So many mystical moments have changed her life. But when she was at Rhythmia in Costa Rica in 2021. That experience in the rainforest with the Shaman will always be profound for her. She got to see how multidimensional we truly are. The experience of being reborn. Her father came during a ceremony there and she got a healing. Shaheerah knows that while we live in this dimension, we also exist in another dimension. In the Unified Field, everything is possible. She then realized the necessity of being her Authentic Self. Spirit said for her to stop judging. She began to notice the energetic judgment. She was burned out. She sold the church and it freed her up, and her ministry remains online and is as powerful as ever. Rev. Shaheerah released her fear. She is centered in her relationship with Source. When she gets clear about her dominant thinking and how it impacts her life. She sees herself well, does her spiritual work all the time, and forgives herself. Her life teaches her. She has released judgement and it has freed her. She is unafraid to see things as they are.  Her Truth is what is most important. Claiming her sacred power means she is one with God, she came here to be the Light, listening to One Voice. She will be Love while she is here. She feels Light, releases doing and focuses on Who She Be. The Holy Spirit is the Divine Feminine. To receive the Spirit, we have to be receptive. She expects a healing at "Celebrating Our Soul" 2026. Support the show Donate – CelesteFrazier.com

She is one of the featured artists at the Missouri History Museum’s “Sold on St. Louis” gift shop.  In 1996, while living and working in fundraising on the East Coast, she and her mother were driving and had a car crash. Only Brenda survived. Brenda was told that her life was a miracle.  A private session provided some profound understanding.  Brenda made a list of the qualities of the partner she desired, and she showed up. Brenda moved to Missouri in Oct 2004 and started attending CSL St. Louis earlier that summer. Thru CSL, she learned of a Hindu guru (Dr. Pillai) who taught Wayne Dyer the "ah" meditation, and from that workshop, big shifts occurred. Instead of buying a set of Mala Beads from Dr. Pillai, she learned and created her first set of Mala beads.  Her partner, Patrice repaired Brenda's mother's broken rosary (broke during the car crash of 1996), and they ultimately started making jewelry in 2005 and selling it. They sold their jewelry for 15 years until Covid hit.  In 2013-14, she raised the funds and made plans to travel to Ghana to work with women who are jewelry makers, using beads made from recycled glass. The experience was profound in many ways. She mentored and inspired the women to further their education, and to leave the impoverished village to move to the capital city where the work paid more. One woman took her advice, Regina went to school and moved to the capitol. Brenda has her mentor for 11 years and occasionally sends her funds. Brenda's work in fundraising and in art has been a supportive energy for healing others, promoting good causes and healing for herself. Support the show Donate – CelesteFrazier.com

    Divine Design

Send us Fan Mail Kenzie Leon Perry, the Creative Director at Ze Haus Design Studio, curates unique and personalized designs that transform spaces into expressions of individuality and soul. His work as a licensed interior designer spans hospitality, commercial, and residential spaces, but his passion extends beyond the physical environment. As a visual artist and product designer, Kenzie crafts distinctive wallpaper and fabric collections, all deeply influenced by his love of nature and the lush tropical landscapes that surround his Miami, Florida roots. Mr. Perry's design philosophy, Tropic Art Nuvo, blends vibrant colors, prints, and patterns, liberating spaces from monotony and infusing them with depth and character. Kenzie's journey is not just one of design; it's one of spiritual discovery. Raised in a traditional missionary Baptist church founded by Bahamian migrants in Opa Locka, Florida, his early life was steeped in faith. Singing, acting, and design became his avenues of expression as he learned about the word of God. Kenzie initially went to school for gospel music, but later changed majors to focus on interior design, completing a degree that his mother had once pursued but left behind after giving birth to him. Kenzi 's spiritual journey led him away from traditional ministries and toward a deeper, more personal exploration of his faith. It wasn't until 2003, when a friend introduced him to Unity on the Bay, that he found a spiritual home that resonated with his true self. Though he hesitated at first, he eventually embraced Unity's teachings, and by 2011, he became an official member. This community helped him heal from past traumas and reignited his passion for music, leading him to join the music ministry and begin writing and recording his own songs. His favorite spiritual practices include walking, mirror work, yoga, and painting, all of which help him connect with his inner self and the world around him. In addition to his design and spiritual endeavors, Kenzie is deeply committed to education and diversity in the design industry. He is the illustrator for the Design Your World book (published in 2022) and has been the facilitator for this program for three consecutive years. This education pathway program is driven by the mission to build equity and diversity in the design industry, providing high school students with exposure to the possibilities of a career in design. By advocating for the value of design, their members and the industry give agency and access to underrepresented people through the built environment and the power of place, while sharing what careers are available and possible in the industry. Today, Kenzie's elife is a blend of creative and spiritual pursuits. He is writing a book titled *Affirmative Reading for the Present Day at-hand*, a compilation of personal and affirmative journey writings aimed at cultivating a healthy mindset. He continues to design residential and commercial spaces through Ze Haus Design Studio, while teaching and raising scholarships at Florida International University. His journey is one of continuous exploration—of spirit, of design, and of self—guided by a deep sense of oneness and the belief that our true selves are waiting to be awakened.
