    Fotografiskaga köögis: kuidas kohalik tooraine jõuab kööki

    Fotografiskas käivad kunst ja toit käsikäes. Siin kohtuvad loovus, inimesed, maitsed ja kirg, saatjaks meie maailmavaade: jätkusuutlik, aus ja parajalt mässumeelne. Fotografiska restoranis oleme teed rajanud, et hoida au sees kestlikku toidukunsti ja kohalikku toorainet. Selle keskmes on tihe side nendega, kes meie toitu kasvatavad, püüavad ja toodavad – põllult ja merelt otse kööki. September on Eesti toidu kuu ning selles Fotografiska podcasti episoodis küsime, mida „kohalik“ toidu puhul päriselt tähendab. Miks pole kohaliku tooraine jõudmine otse tootjalt restorani sugugi nii iseenesestmõistetav, kui arvata võiks? Kas Eesti tootja suudab impordiga konkureerida, kas kohalik tähendab alati paremat ja kui palju huvitab tänast külalist üldse see, kust tema toit pärineb? Räägime ka tehnoloogia ja robootika võimalustest, hooajast ja loodusest, kokkade ja tootjate vahelistest suhetest ning eestlaste suhtest kala ja kohaliku toiduga. Sekka päris lood ja vahetud seigad nii restorani kui ka tootjate argipäevast. Külas on kaks kohalikku tootjat, kellega igapäevaselt koostööd teeme – Raimo Merekivi Kopra Sahvrist ja Raul Rohesalu Pepekalast. Nendega arutleb Fotografiska peakokk Gerli Travkin.

    Artist Talk: “Emerging Artists 2026: The Baltics & Finland”

    in May 2026 Fotografiska Tallinn launched the first exhibition of its new initiative, Emerging Artists: The Baltics & Finland, bringing the region’s rising stars of photography into the spotlight. In this international group exhibition, we encounter a new generation of photographers from the region who combine a strong documentary eye, a sensitive artistic vision, and a skill for staging playful scenes. This talk took place on May 9, 2026, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the exhibition and the creative worlds of its artists. The discussion explored current directions and trends in contemporary photography, as well as how distinctive artistic voices develop through personal experience and creative practice. The conversation also touched on photography as a tool for addressing timely and sensitive topics: how artistic work intertwines with personal life, the role of collaboration with communities, and why it is important to leave space for playfulness and humor. Photography has the power to raise questions and spark dialogue. In this conversation, emerging artists shared how they perceive and use that power. The discussion was led by Kulla Laas, Head of the Emerging Artist Program at Fotografiska Tallinn and curator of the exhibition. Artists participating in the talk: Annemarija Gulbe (Latvia), Ieva Baltaduonytė (Lithuania), Karl Ketamo (Finland), Anna-Liisa Kree (Estonia), Andra Rahe (Estonia), Filips Smits (Latvia), Pavelas Šalaikiskis (Lithuania). Emerging Artists 2026: The Baltics & Finland, group exhibition, 9 May – 1 November  For the first time, Fotografiska Tallinn brings together a new wave of image-makers from across the region. “Emerging Artists: The Baltics & Finland” is a platform for fresh perspectives – work that is searching, bold, and in sync with the pulse of our time.  The inaugural exhibition brings together artists from all four countries, opening up personal worlds, testing the boundaries of photography, and offering new ways to experience the present moment. All artists have been selected through an open call, and for many, this marks their first appearance on a stage of this scale – with some series being shown publicly for the very first time.

    Alison Jackson x Neeme Raud | Fake News: Is the Camera Lying?

With Fotografiska’s summer major exhibition “Photography in Power: Making Worlds Visible”, British artist Alison Jackson visited Estonia in May 2026.  Her staged realities have made audiences hesitate, smile, and sometimes feel uneasy, and have even disrupted public space so provocatively that her “truths” have at times been removed from the urban environment. Jackson creates images of events that have never happened, celebrities appearing to do things they never actually did. Or did they? Fake news is not only created in front of us, but also within us, in the moment we choose to believe something. Why are we drawn to stories that confirm our biases? Where does the line between real and fictional lie, and why is it becoming increasingly blurred in today’s world? Through sharp satire and provocation, Jackson’s work reveals our own desire to believe what seems too good (or too scandalous) to be false. The conversation grows from photographic art into a broader exploration of the nerves of our time, unfolding unexpected perspectives and sharp observations.  The discussion with Alison Jackson is led by acclaimed journalist Neeme Raud. At the intersection of documentary and staged approaches, the personal meets the political, vulnerability meets resistance.     Fotografiska Talks: James Nachtwey and Brent Pere

    As part of Fotografiska’s major summer exhibition Photography in Power: Making Worlds Visible, one of the most influential war photographers of our time, James Nachtwey, visited Tallinn in May 2026. Over decades spent working in the world’s most difficult conflict zones, Nachtwey has captured moments that are both unbearable and essential -  stories of war, loss, and human resilience, without embellishment or compromise. In this podcast episode, journalist Brent Pere speaks with James Nachtwey about his current work, the conflicts shaping the world today, and his experiences documenting conflicts across the globe.  Photography in Power: Making Worlds Visible, group exhibition, 6 May – 13 September 2026.  Photography in Power: Making Worlds Visible brings together 127 photographers whose work has shaped how we see, interpret, and perceive the world today – among them Helmut Newton, Robert Mapplethorpe, Richard Avedon, Alison Jackson, and David LaChapelle.     Valner Valme & Tõnu Pedaru Anton Corbijni näitusest | Fotografiska Jutud

    Kultuurikriitik Valner Valme ja ajakirjanik ning laulja Tõnu Pedaru võtavad luubi alla legendaarse fotograafi Anton Corbijni – mehe, kes on andnud näo tervele hulgale muusikamaailma ikoonidele. Juttu tuleb Corbijni näitusest Fotografiskas, tema tumedast ja äratuntavast visuaalsest käekirjast ning sellest, kuidas üks fotograaf on suutnud kujundada terve ajastu muusika visuaalset keelt. Miks mõjuvad Corbijni fotod endiselt nii võimsalt ja milline on tema püsiv legacy – fotograafina, muusikavideote lavastajana ja muusikakultuuri visuaalse keele kujundajana.  ANTON CORBIJN „Corbijn, Anton“, 24. jaanuar – 30. aprill Anton Corbijni ainulaadne käekiri on jõuliselt kujundanud nüüdisaegse muusika ja kultuuri visuaalset keelt. Legendaarse fotograafi suur retrospektiiv „Corbijn, Anton” rändab läbi kunstniku viie loomekümnendi – näituse igal kaadril pesitseb kunstnikule omases hämaruses keegi, kes on keegi. Üle 150 teose kaudu avaneb ehe ja erakordne maailm, kust vaatavad vastu Depeche Mode, David Bowie, U2, Nick Cave ja paljud teised, kes on jätnud oma jälje – ja kelle jälje on jätnud Corbijn. Elamust rikastab videotuba, mis toob kokku Corbijni videograafia ja ikoonilised muusikavideod, mille saatel on suureks sirgunud mitu põlvkonda. Corbijni pärand ja jalajälg muusikas on raudkindel, ning just seda see näitus tähistabki.

    Anton Corbijn x Muusikanõunikud At the opening weekend of exhibition "Corbijn, Anton", the ground floor of Fotografiska was filled with great music and lively conversation as the Muusikanõunikud podcast was recorded live -  with special guest Anton Corbijn in person. On stage with Corbijn from the Muusikanõunikud podcast were Raul Saaremets, Siim Nestor, and Merit Maarits. “Muusikanõunikud” is a weekly music review show where fresh music from Estonia and abroad is praised and critiqued. The podcast was recorded live on 24 January 2026 at Fotografiska Tallinn. The intro for the live podcast is done by Margit Aasmäe, the CEO of Fotografiska Tallinn.     Fotografiska Talks: Live podcast with Brainstorm & Ingrid Kohtla on Anton Corbijn

    On the evening before the exhibition “Corbijn, Anton” opened, Fotografiska hosted a live podcast recording exploring the creative relationship between Brainstorm and Anton Corbijn. The discussion touched on their collaborations – some of which reportedly took place in Estonia – Corbijn’s role in shaping the visual history of popular music, and what the band had been working on both then and at the time. The exhibition is on show at Fotografiska Tallinn from January 24 to April 30, 2026.   Brainstorm was interviewed by Ingrid Kohtla, Head of Communications and Content Curator for Tallinn Music Week (TMW) and Station Narva. Anton Corbijn once said about Brainstorm: “I can’t tell you how much I felt at home with them and felt we were all together trying to achieve something.” So guests came to hear what that feeling of “home” sounded like from Brainstorm’s perspective. The podcast was recorded live on 22 January at Fotografiska Tallinn.  The intro for the live podcast is done by Margit Aasmäe, the CEO of Fotografiska Tallinn. Brainstorm in Tallinn Who doesn’t know Brainstorm? The Latvian pop-rock band shot to fame like a comet when they appeared on the Eurovision stage. They are still going strong and touring actively – and they also released a brand-new album in 2025. Brainstorm and Anton Corbijn The band arrived in Estonia as legendary music photographer Anton Corbijn opened a major exhibition at Fotografiska on the evening of 23 January 2026. Alongside some of the biggest names in global music – including U2, Depeche Mode, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Prince, and many more – Brainstorm had also stood in front of Corbijn’s camera on several occasions. More than that, Corbijn had designed an entire album cover for Brainstorm and had helped shape their visual identity. All this made it more than fitting to bring everyone together in Tallinn to mark the opening of this remarkable exhibition.     Fotografiskaga kosmoses: Jan Kaus kosmosenäituse erituuril

    6. jaanuaril Fotografiskas toimunud  kosmosenäituse erituur viis rännakule esseist ja kirjanik Jan Kausi paeluvasse mõttemaailma ja tema muljetavaldavatesse teadmistesse universumist.  „Niisiis on mul pilku öötaevalaotusel hoides võimalus saada aktiivselt osa teaduse ja kunsti ammendamatust pärandist, elamise ja mõtlemise mõõtmatust ilust,“ kirjutas Jan Kaus Fotografiska kosmosenäitusest kultuuriajalehes Sirp.  Kutsume ka selles podcasti episoodis läbi näitusetuuri salvestuse osa saama kirjaniku sõnaseadmise ja mõtisklemise kosmilisest ilust – sel harukordsel erituuril muutuvad sõnad tähtedeks, avardavatest mõtetest sünnib uus universum ning näitus poeb veelgi sügavamale hingesoppi. Jan Kaus on esseist ja kirjanik ning endine Eesti Kirjanike Liidu juht (2004–2007). Ta on avaldanud mitmeid romaane, novellikogusid ja esseeraamatuid ning on tuntud oma mõtlikult poeetilise stiili poolest. Nöitus KOSMOS – visuaalne rännak“, grupinäitus, 13. september 2025 – 17. jaanuar 2026. Oleme alati imetlenud tähistaevast ja mõtisklenud, mis seal küll peituda võib. Kosmos sümboliseerib meie igatsust nihutada piire, astuda samm tundmatusse ja unistada tulevikust öötaeva tähtede seas. Fotografiska näitusel „KOSMOS - visuaalne rännak“ kohtuvad taevapiiril kunst ja teadus – selles põimuvad uurimustöö ja kunstiloome, et jäädvustada universumi vägevust nii astronoomide pilgu kui ka kunstnike tõlgenduste kaudu. 14 kunstniku töödes peegelduvad küsimused Maa ja kosmose ja meie identiteedi kohta: kes me selles igavikulises maailmas oleme ja kellel on lubatud unistada tulevikust?
