Episode #83 Joe Montague - 100 weeks of Isolated Drums special. How I transcribe, record and give away drum stems for Beatles songs and more!

While a lot of people celebrated the jubilee last week, we also celebrated a milestone here at That 60s HQ. Last week, we officially hit 100 weeks of 'Isolated Drums' newsletters, which means there are 100 songs with full drums stems available for free on the website! In this episode, I'm talking about what my Isolated Drums newsletters are all about and how they came to be. I also talk about how I transcribe the drum parts, and what microphones and techniques I use to record the track with some of that 60s flavour! Whether you've been using my drum stems for months or this is the first you've heard about them, this episode will give you the backstory and details on how and why I do this!

That 60s Recording Podcast: Ted Fletcher Lecture Series #8 Recording In The Real World

This is a bonus episode which brings us out of theory and into recording reality! This bonus episode marks the 8th and final instalment (for real this time) in a series of lectures delivered by the great Ted Fletcher over the years.
You may remember Ted as a previous guest on this very podcast... He is the man behind the Alice Mixing Manufacturing Co, Joemeek Audio and TFPRO. He also worked with Joe Meek through the 60s and ran the KPM studio on Denmark St, so it's safe to say he knows his stuff! This in-depth and highly technical lecture series will give you a rare insight into the thinking of one of the greatest minds in the history of audio recording.

Enthusiasm abounds

Joe's curation here is straightforward, humble, and insightful. Interviews with recording engineers continues to be an engaging source of insights and perspectives--sure to perk up period enthusiasts and professionals alike. The true gem, though, remains in hearing the stories themselves unfold.
