CHANCELLOR HERMA - Character Profile with special guest John 'from Vintas'

Listeners, this episode counts for one and a half! Chancellor Herma, the Master Linguist, is "on the horns" as our character profile subject today. And, my friend John of Two Geek Soup is here to talk about languages and linguistics along with a whole host of other topics. Hope you enjoy! Interesting facts in this episode: Yllish knots and culture, quantum entanglement, languages throughout the history of Temerant and University students who study them (we may have forgotten some), Herma’s illness and what (OR WHO) could be behind it, the Archives and waystones, studying language in the real world, language quirks in Estonian, and more.  Show notes - in this discussion, we forget several languages/the Kingkiller Wiki forgets several: Modegan, Lenatti/Lanetti (I assume that’s a language?), and *music*. My next episode will be a more recent recording and I know I have one fan question to answer, so if you’ve got more email me at etrsop@gmail.com. Also I’m working on a new essay post on my Ko-Fi so make sure you check that out at ko-fi.com/etrsop and perhaps slide a few shims, talents, copper pennies, gold royals, straelem, etc. to help support a small creator :)  THANK YOU to my good friend John of Two Geek Soup for a great chat, as always. You can follow him on Facebook here. And thank you, listeners!

Master ELODIN -- Character Profile with special guest Nick from Page of the Wind

The enigmatic Master Elodin is chasing milkweed seeds around the classroom today, and my buddy Nick joins me in the back row to talk about him. Come on in!  Interesting facts in this episode: What makes a Namer, and other Namers in the Kingkiller Chronicle; Elodin and Auri’s interactions; the other students in Naming class; Haven, Alder Whin, and Elodin's escape; summer crops of interns; RJ’s new interest in birding; Elodin’s connection to the Fae and what his age may be; his connection with Fela; places like the Crockery in fiction; true names; contemplating pine cones…….and time loops!!  THANK YOU to Nick from Page of the Wind for joining me.  The best ways to support the podcast are to give it a five-star review on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, and to share episodes on social media/with people who you think might like it! Master ELXA DAL -- Character profile

We continue our discussion of the university Masters with Elxa Dal, the Master Sympathist himself! Interesting facts in this episode: Careers as a sympathist, ‘The Ignorant Edema’ story and how Dal parallels Skarpi, dramatic teachers, and the dangers of both teaching and learning sympathy. Master KILVIN -- Character Profile

And we're back! ETRSOP is jumping back onto your feeds with a monthly series on the University Masters in the Kingkiller Chronicle. First up is Master Artificer, Kilvin! Interesting facts in this episode: Some favorite Kilvin sayings, sygaldry and artificery, ever-burning lamps, and mysteries. I bring up Manet, Basil, and Jaxim here because they’re also Artificing students! I'm working on some new editing tools and just got a new microphone to try and clean up production :) Thank you for hanging with me! The FELLING NIGHT Crowd - Character profiles

Pull up a seat at the bar, as we turn the spotlight on the regulars at Newarre's very own Waystone Inn -- Old Cob, Graham, Jake, Carter, Shep (RIP), and Aaron the smith's prentice. In this episode, we discuss the stories that Old Cob (and Chronicler) tell about Kvothe and Taborlin, what these interludes can tell us about the overall story, and how these guys might play into Day Three. This podcast will keep rolling along at its own pace like a meandering caravan - thank you for all the support! Anchor.fm has been rolled into Spotify and there are some new processes on the back end, so please let me know if there is anything weird with the feed. Find me (rarely) on Twitter at twitter.com/etrsop or email me, etrsop@gmail.com. If you want to support the podcast, leave a five-star review on your favorite podcatcher, or buy Jacob Walker a coffee (maybe he'll lighten up) at ko-fi.com/etrsop.

TRAPIS and religion in Temerant - With special guest John from Two Geek Soup

How is the road to Tinue, my friends? We're coming up on the end of another year, and my friend John from Vintas stopped by the troupe to talk about Trapis - just in time for Midwinter! We talk about Kvothe's time in Tarbean, compare what we know about religion in Temerant, and discuss parallels between the Tehlin religion and real-world faiths from our own backgrounds studying Christianity and the Bible. We of course talk about the story of Tehlu and Encanis, and pack a lot of other discussion in, too. Hope you enjoy! If you want to share your thoughts or feedback, email me at etrsop@gmail.com. You can support the podcast by leaving a glowing review on your chosen podcatcher or toss a talent to my Ko-Fi! Thank you to patrons Amanda, Kevin, and Jim and emailer Greg for your support and enthusiasm :)

Interlude - Patrons, maids, and metheglin (and the true names of things)

HELLO! We are preparing to dust off our cloaks of no particular color and get back to it. Checking in with some housekeeping, some thank-yous, and some self-deprecation :) I also went back through all my old episodes to find the true name of RJ...or something like that. Reach me at etrsop@gmail.com or check out my Ko-Fi!

Interlude - Roads to Safe Places (Pod Update + Book Recommendations)

The troupe is settling down for a bit as RJ takes a little time to clear the waters of the ol' creative well. We chat some fantasy books and will rest up a bit before we head on down the road again.  My book recommendations: "The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear" and "Rumo and His Miraculous Adventures" by Walter Moers "Sabriel" by Garth Nix "Path Of Deceit (Star Wars: The High Republic)" by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland "Artemis" by  Andy Weir Find me on Twitter at twitter.com/etrsop or email me, etrsop@gmail.com. If you wanna financially support the podcast, buy me a coffee at ko-fi.com/etrsop. See you where the roads meet!
