A social scientific lens on Indonesia's pressing challenges

04/17/2020

Take Two

Still not perfect but getting a hang of it even with wifi disruptions! For this episode, co-host Yoes C. Kenawas (Political science PhD candidate, Northwestern) takes over and chats with Nathanael G. Sumaktyo, PhD (Post-doc Fellow, Notre Dame) about random sampling, Covid-19 tests, and partisanship in public opinion. Nathanael even suggests a survey experiment at the end! Co-host Evan A. Laksmana, PhD (Senior researcher, CSIS Indonesia) joins in the background and asks annoying questions. For more info on Nathanael and his excellent research, see his website (http://nathanaelmu.com/academic/) and follow him on Twitter (http://twitter.com/nathanaelmu). Follow also our co-host Yoes (@yoeskenawas) and Evan (@EvanLaksmana). Stay tuned for our next episode and thanks for listening!

First cut

Our first chat about how social science concepts and theories might illuminate contemporary challenges relating to Covid-19 in Indonesia. For our first episode, our guests are Yoes C. Kenawas (PhD candidate in political science at Northwestern University) and Jennifer Frentasia (PhD candidate in political science at the University of Michigan). It's literally our first attempt to chat and think about the different ways the pandemic shapes how we look at the world. So apologies for the lack of coherence but hopefully we'll improve the next episode. Stay tuned! Host: Evan A. Laksmana, PhD (Senior researcher, Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Indonesia)
