Hallway digressions is the perfect podcast for all listeners. Regardless of Biblical experience, origin, or understanding of sarcasm, the guys are an outstanding listen for any occasion mixing Biblical education with comedy in the best way possible.
In order to establish credibility, I am a previous graduate of Lakewood Park, and have had the honor and privilege of having all three of these men as Bible teachers in my time. I had Mr. Nick Didomenico (you can tell because I know how to spell it, instead of cheating and saying Mr. D) for 3 years for four different classes, Mr. Brett Sloffer for 3 years for 3 classes, and Mr. Luke Johnson for 1 year with 1 class. I can confirm that these guys are the exact same inside and outside the classroom, and it is the most authentic podcast I have ever listened to. They all bring wonderful elements to the table to have a well rounded and entertaining podcast. Luke is one of the most compassionate and loving individuals I have had as a teacher, and he shows it time and time again as a perfect host for the show. Brett is most likely the most diverse of the group, having dabbled in just about everything from spiritual warfare to heavy metal mixed with cardio, to eating boxes of cereal by himself at 2 a.m. on a school night. He usually has the most content in terms of digressing and comedy. Lastly, and definitely not least, Nick, the Italian, is the quietest of the group, and tends to have the deepest insight and knowledge of topics with a gracefulness that is not easy to forget. That’s what he wants you to believe at least, and he does a great job of showing this to the max potential. I am worthy to write such a review for such a podcast as I have been mentioned on it, not once but twice, making me top 7 mentioned people on Hallway Digression, a title I do not take lightly. Another digression I must add before the beef of the review is that I did in fact binge this podcast in a span of 10 days. I recently started a very monotonous job that allows its employees to listen to anything they want, and I turned to a podcast that I had forgotten about. Yes, it is true, although Luke mentions in Season 1 Episode 3 that he thought I was a weekly listener, I was unfortunately swept away by the business of college, but by God’s grace, I have come back.
Hallway Digressions has every single thing that any listener could ever want. Hate podcasts that are too short? Well, have no fear, and take delight that Season one has episode upon episode longer than an hour to tickle your ear drums to their content. Don’t want to listen to an hour-long podcast? Well, this simply is a poor excuse, as in Season 2, the guys get “slimmer and trimmer” and keep most episodes close to 30 minutes, being perfect for a commute to work or school, or even a break from the wildness of life. Want an entertaining podcast? This does not fall short, as episode after episode has mention of stories from home and work, confessions that the guys give, along with an endless stream of dad jokes. Want an educational podcast? Again, you have come to the right spot! The guys all have a great knowledge of history and Biblical studies, and even claim to have their masters of differing Biblical degrees. These episodes could go much, much longer if necessary, or if Brett and Luke have enough time on their hands, with all of the knowledge that they can instill into their listeners. Want a podcast with progression? Episodes never leave the listener dry, as they always keep it slow at the beginning talking about stories to lure the audience in, then take the remaining time to talk about questions from the audience or headlines in the news from a Biblical worldview. Want prophesy in your life? Look no further than this podcast, as time and time again, they get it right. In Episode 1 of Season 2, they prophesied that people will binge listen to their podcast, and I indeed have done this. Not only this, but give Season 2 Episode 6 a listen, and you’ll see what I mean. Want a podcast with mystery? Still, Hallway Digressions refuses to miss the mark. From not knowing if the “Cookies and Cream” Rice Krispies were of Sloffer’s liking in the last episode of Season 1 (A real cliff hanger!!) to others, they always know how to keep the audience’s attention. I could go on and on about how they have a level of professionalism along with a down to earth feel that is not easily attainable, to their soothing voices over Zoom, but I digress. The only way to truly grasp how life changing this podcast can be, is to listen. Join the rest of the Hallway Digressions following soaking up their knowledge and comedy, and wait patiently for the next episode, as the guys brew up something incredible.
