    Sharks

Squirt and Sprout dive into the deep blue sea to explore the world of sharks. These finned friends vary in size, shape, and color. We read a book picked out by Sprout, Clark the Shark - Too Many Treats written by Bill Hale and illustrated by Guy Francis. We learn a valuable lesson about sweet treats and have fun saying he word "googly."

  2. 06/29/2020

    Groundhogs

Squirt and Sprout are joined by their Mimi (visiting from Texas) to discuss the newest addition to our backyard, groundhogs. These subterranean-dwelling relatives of squirrels are sometimes called woodchucks or whistle pigs. We read the book Grumpy Groundhog written by Maureen Wright and illustrated by Amanda Haley. We also give a shout-out to fans across the globe… thanks for listening!

    Food

Squirt and Sprout talk about favorite foods, both for mealtime and as sweet treats. Today we discuss the many names for mealtimes (including trunch and lupper). We read the book Bread and Honey, by Frank Asch featuring an alligator that sounds like a bad Sean Connery impersonation and a giraffe that sounds somewhat like Jimmy Stewart. We also meet BarkBark and TuTu. This episode is better than warm bread with honey (or peanut butter).

    Art

Squirt and Sprout explore the world of art with their cousin and special guest, Charlee. They learn about Charlee’s art challenge and read an art-themed book, Harold and the Purple Crayon, by Crockett Johnson. Today we learned how many trees it takes to draw a forest and another term for raccoons. Whether painting, sketching, or printmaking, art is a fun way to capture the things you like best.

  5. 05/19/2020

    Trees

Squirt and Sprout share their favorite types of tree and read an outdoor-themed book, Run Wild, by David Covell. We continue with an adventure walk to explore the trees in our neighborhood. Each tree provides something fun to discover. We encourage you to take time to explore the trees around your home.

  6. 05/03/2020

    Animals

Squirt and Sprout share their favorite animals and learn a little bit about manners in the process. In this second episode, we read the book Please, Mr. Panda for you to enjoy in your home.

  7. 04/27/2020

    Hello, world, moon, and sun!

Squirt and Sprout say “hello, world!” in their first radio show episode. This episode contains a conversation about the earth, moon, and the sun and we read the book The Day The Crayons Quit. Enjoy!
