    This episode hears Sacha Puttnam talking to Oscar winning composer Rachel Portman (for Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow, and being one of the only three women to have won the Academy Award for Best Score). Rachel tells Sacha about her breakthrough into film composing along with the joys of writing the music to this wonderful and heart warming film, War of the Buttons, adapted for the screen by Colin Welland.
    Sacha took two of Rachel's pieces from WotB to produce his beautiful suite on the album Spirt of Cinema.

    Of course we also hear from Sacha on both his and Vangelis' originals of the main theme, Chariots of Fire and Eric's Theme.

    Our host, Sacha Puttnam, talks us through life in LA in the late seventies in a world of film and music. Midnight Express, the first production for Casablanca Films - produced by David Puttnam, written by Oliver Stone and directed by the late, great Alan Parker the film's electronic score by Giorgio Moroder won the Oscar, the first of its kind to do so.
    Sacha discusses both pieces - the originals and his own versions, and we hear some insights from Alan Parker on the films ground breaking music.

    Sailing Homeward

    Sailing Homeward

    Sacha talks to the magical troubadour Donovan in this episode. They first met when Sacha was five years old on the set of The Pied Piper, in which Donovan starred. They discuss the film, both Donovan's original song Sailing Homeward, and Sacha's version (released on 17th July) and Donovan takes us through a world of revolution, music and wonderment.
