As a part of CiTR’s May 2020 Asian Heritage Month programming, Motherlands is a series exploring what it means to be Asian. Produced by people from a variety of Asian backgrounds, the podcast is a celebration, as well as an investigation of the so-called “Asian Identity”. 'What Comes Next?' features Rachel Lau on Yarrow Society's 'Speak My Language' podcast, a group discussion about the merits and pitfalls of 'Asian Heritage Month,' and a very frank exit conversation between Isa You, the host and coordinator of Motherlands and Alex de Boer, CiTR's Spoken Word Coordinator. 'Conversations' features Shaoli Choudhury's piece on the Bengali polymath Rabindranath Tagore, Isa You's interview with UBC Asian Health & Migration lecturer Ben Cheung and Joshua Azizi's story of how his parents met and fell in love.
