The Importance of Knowledge, Faith & Understanding Burnout with Dr. Sam Kim
Dr. Sam D. Kim is a pastor, author, and ethicist who is offering insight and care into some of the most essential gaps in the mental health conversation.
When working in a prestigious position as research fellow in Global Health and Social Medicine at the Center for Bioethics at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Kim began noticing the deep burn-out impacting many healthcare workers. He found that these highly-educated, socially celebrated individuals were often experiencing intense emotional lows. The result was a lot of work digging into the mechanics of burnout — and how to repair it.
Dr. Kim’s work is born of a deep personal faith that developed through experiencing God’s compassionate healing hand after his own trauma in the process of his family’s relocation to America from Korea. That faith is explored in depth through A Holy Haunting: Why Faith Isn’t a Leap but a Series of Staggers from One Safe Place to Another. This episode digs into the book’s intriguing title while continuing the Trevor Talks mission of shedding light on the hardest mental health conversations.

From Skipping Class to Drumming Up a Dream: A Chat with Jerome Flood of FloodGeight
Jerome Flood is the founder of FloodGeight and a drummer who has mastered the art of drumming. Believe it or not? It all started with skipping class.
This master beat keeper boasts accolades such as drumming for Crowder and winning Guitar Center's 20th annual Drum-Off that pitted him against over 6,000 other drummers. Like so many musicians who has achieved startling success at a young age, for Jerome, it started with a dream and a relentless work ethic to pursue it.
On this episode of Trevor Talks, you’ll hear about that path, as well as about his band FloodGeight’s new track “Chase Me.” You’ll also hear about some of the surprising ways Trevor and Jerome’s paths have been similar, and how it (unsurprisingly for longterm listeners) involved metalcore!

Archetypes Collide: Breaking the Metalcore Mold and Embracing Vulnerability with Kyle Pastor
Archetypes Collide is becoming one of the most talked-about names in hard rock — before their debut album even releases. With unswervingly honest lyrics and a variety of genre archetypes smashed together for one monster sound, Archetypes Collide’s forthcoming self-titled album (due March 31) promises to hit home for a variety of listeners.
The heartbeat of these songs comes from singer and primary songwriter Kyle Pastor’s own personal and emotional process. Trying to determine where he fit in and what piece music had in his identity was a long road for the church-kid-turned rocker. These days, Kyle has settled into his creative passions, his role as a husband and a dad, and work as a creative director at his church.
But even with that foundation and the sudden explosive growth of Archetypes Collide, Kyle is no stranger to anxiety and doubt. His process of pushing through? Community, solidarity, and acceptance of who he was created to be.
Are you struggling with your own questions about mental health, identity, and life’s purpose? Comment on this episode’s YouTube page. Every comment will go directly to HeartSupport’s incredible support wall, and you’ll get a response right there on YouTube!

Amazing interviews and positive vibes
Keep up the great work, Trevor and team. Love this show. My favorite interview so far is the one with Alexa PenaVega. What an incredible story.
More than a personality - a deeply caring person.
Trevor Talks is more than a radio show personality, but a show that presents the true heart of caring person - someone with deep convictions - who is refreshing to listen to. Trevor and his guests tell enriching stories that have encouraged my walk with Jesus and I pray they encourage yours as well. In a distracting sea of noise, Trevor Talks stands alone.
One of the best
Genuine interviews with genuine people. Can’t find anything better. Will continue to listen each episode.
