Men Should Get Refunded for Failed Dates... Right? feat. Sean Garvey | Episode 6

Send us Fan Mail What happens when you spend nearly $200 on a first date, only to hear, “I don’t see a romantic connection”? On this episode of Playing 4 Keeps, DJ sits down with Sean Garvey for a conversation about dating expectations, rejection, money, accountability, and what men and women really owe each other after a date. Sean shares the story of taking a woman out, covering the entire bill, and later jokingly asking for his money back after she told him she wasn’t interested. He also opens up about how his perspective has changed since then, why he now believes some dating lessons simply come with a cost, and how getting to know someone before rushing into a date can save time, money, and disappointment.  But the conversation does not stop there. Sean gets personal about a past relationship that pushed him outside of his comfort zone, challenged how he saw himself, and led to unexpected experiences around intimacy, identity, and personal growth. He and DJ also unpack the difference between being challenged in a relationship and losing yourself trying to become what someone else wants.   And when it comes to what Sean wants now, he makes one thing clear: he is not interested in dating just for the experience anymore. He is looking to build with someone who is healed, intentional, open-minded, and ready for something real.  Follow Sean on Instagram: @seangarveyatl Support the show Produced by Organized Movements Recorded at PriviCast Studio Visit our Website playing4keepsdating.com

Fake Ring, Real Scam feat. Nikki Lee | Episode 2

Send us Fan Mail What happens when your high school sweetheart comes back ten years later with an engagement ring, nearly $2,000 in checks, and a plan to scam you out of your rent money? In this episode of Playing 4 Keeps, DJ sits down with Atlanta host, stylist, mother, grandmother, and full-time student Nikki Lee for a raw and hilarious conversation about modern dating, relationship red flags, long-distance love, bisexuality, healing, and dating with intention. Nikki shares the shocking story of reconnecting with a man who once owed her $400. After months of talking, he flew to Atlanta, proposed in a restaurant, promised her a new life, and appeared to repay everything he owed. By Monday morning, Nikki learned the checks were fake, the engagement ring was glass, and the entire romantic weekend had been funded with money he stole from her bank account. What makes this story even wilder is that Nikki later discovered she was not his only victim. DJ and Nikki also get honest about consistency versus constant communication, recognizing emotionally unavailable partners, protecting your peace, and why Black singles cannot allow good chemistry or great sex to distract them from obvious warning signs. Through every betrayal and dating disappointment, Nikki refuses to become bitter. Her philosophy is simple: never a failure, always a lesson. Follow Nikki Lee on Instagram at @iamnikki_lee.
