    Northern Crime Syndicate Podcast Episode 27: Kia Abdullah

    Kia Abdullah is today's guest on the Northern Crime Syndicate Podcast. Robert Scragg joins A.M. Peacock on hosting duties as they discuss Kia's writing career, her love of travelling and taking risks to get to where you want to be.  Kia Abdullah is an author and travel writer from London. Her novel 'Take it Back' was named one of the best thrillers of the year by the Guardian and the Telegraph and was selected for an industry-first audio serialisation by HarperCollins and the Pigeonhole. The follow-up 'Truth Be Told' has been short-listed for a Diverse Book Award and her new novel, 'Next of Kin' is the Times Crime Book of the Month September 2021. Kia has written for the New York Times, the Guardian, the FT, the Telegraph, the BBC and the Times, and is the founder of Asian Booklist, a nonprofit that advocates for diversity in publishing.     Northern Crime Syndicate Podcast Episode 26: Karen Sullivan

    The Northern Crime Syndicate Podcast is back after a short(ish) break. Trevor Wood is on co-hosting duties today as we welcome Orenda Books publisher Karen Sullivan to the show.  Orenda Books is a small independent publisher based in South London. They publish literary fiction, with a heavy emphasis on crime/thrillers. Karen founded Orenda Books in 2014. In 2016, Karen was a Bookseller Rising Star, and Orenda Books was shortlisted for the IPG Nick Robinson Newcomer Award in 2015 and 2016. They won the CWA Crime & Mystery Publisher of the Year Dagger in 2020 and were a regional finalist for the Small Press of the Year Award in the British Book Awards in 2021.     Northern Crime Syndicate Podcast Episode 25: D.L. Marshall

    D.L. Marshall is our guest on this episode of the Northern Crime Syndicate podcast, hosted by A.M. Peacock and Robert Scragg.  D. L. Marshall was born and raised in Halifax, West Yorkshire. Influenced by the dark industrial architecture, steep wooded valleys, and bleak Pennine moors, he writes thrillers tinged with horror, exploring the impact of geography and isolation. In 2016 he pitched at Bloody Scotland. In 2018 he won a Northern Writers' Award for his thriller novel Anthrax Island.  Anthrax Island, described by M.W.
