You can also follow inspiring ethos wherever you socialise. Perfection is not attainable, but if we constantly work on ourselves? We can get closer and closer. It’s all about having the zeal to improve ourselves. None of us are born having a certain ethos, or character or mindset, we might have one or two character traits, but all our behaviour is learnt. We do discover certain things on our own, but for the most part, We watch others do and so we ourselves do. This includes our family, community, schools, where we hang out, church, etc. We pick up behaviours and traits from being closely knit into these groupings and as we grow, we continue to develop ethos, mindset, character, habits, hobbies. You see the pattern here? How often do you monitor this development? When was the last time you tracked your habits? When was the last time you immersed yourself in a hobby? Most people have been learning, observing and discovering without checking and refining. So we grow up with certain mindsets, characters, ethos, habits and hobbies. Some desirable, others not. This happens unknowingly, what can you do knowingly? This is where the well rounded person comes in. It’s you, if possible, with the help of others, taking control of this development process, designing it and engineering yourself into a well rounded person. Develop a moral code, your ethos, enforce and live by it with a mindset that suits it. Drop bad habits, and pick up some new ones, take a break from it all by enjoying your hobbies. Build that character you desire. Here is one thing to note though. Don’t do it for the world, do it for yourself, then make an impact on the world. Here is what I want you to think about. I want you to think about these words, character, mindset, ethos, habits, hobbies What do they mean to you? Have you ever deliberately checked in on yourself to see how you are doing? Introspect. Look at how you are now, think of where you want to be in the future and what will it take to get there? What does a well rounded person look like to you? Now here is what I want you to do. Buy a journal, and as often as you can, write in it, whatever you are feeling. Sketch or draw in it, whatever you feel like. We will talk about journals in future episodes, but for now, if you can, do just that. Quote: Bernard M. Baruch: “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.” Bible verse: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 And just like that ladies and gentlemen, we have come to the end of this particular episode. I encourage you to take action on the points we have raised today. Leave a comment below, let’s keep the conversation going Don’t forget to like, share and subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts.
