Chris Miles: How a Financial Freedom Expert Lost Everything and Came Back

Chris Miles became financially free at 28. Then his world changed. During the financial crisis, Chris went more than $1 million into debt, relied on public assistance, gave up his Mercedes, lost his home, and faced collection calls while trying to keep his business and family afloat. Instead of filing for bankruptcy, he says he eventually worked his way through the debt and rebuilt his financial life. Today, the founder of Money Ripples describes himself as the "Anti-Financial Advisor" and teaches high-income entrepreneurs and professionals how to move from active income toward passive income and becoming what he calls "work optional." Money Ripples currently describes its focus as helping clients turn income into financial freedom through passive-income strategies. In this episode of Super Entrepreneurs Podcast, Chris joins Shahid Durrani for a candid conversation about what financial freedom actually means when your income disappears. Chris breaks down his three-part "Get Lean, Get Liquid, Get Out" framework and explains why entrepreneurs need to watch their expenses, maintain access to capital, and build income outside the business rather than continually putting every available dollar back into it. But this conversation goes deeper than financial strategy. Chris talks openly about what happened to his identity when the house, car, money, and outward symbols of success disappeared. He shares the moment he began questioning whether his value had ever really come from those things—and how his relationship with God helped him separate his self-worth from his possessions. We also explore abundance without pretending reality doesn't exist, the relationship between identity and financial behavior, and why Chris believes money tends to magnify who we already are. Later, Chris explains his perspective on infinite banking and whole life insurance, including what he believes consumers should understand about policy design, commissions, liquidity, borrowing, and the differences between policies. Whether you're earning well but still feel financially dependent on your business, exploring passive income, or simply questioning what being "wealthy" really means, this conversation offers a different way to look at money: Not simply as something to accumulate but as a tool that can eventually give you more choice over how you spend your life. 🔔 Super Entrepreneurs Podcast To watch more videos and get new video updates please subscribe to our channel and stay with us: https://www.youtube.com/@SuperEntrepreneursPod ✅ Stay Connected With Us: 👉 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/superentrepreneurs 👉 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/superentrepreneurspod 👉 X: https://twitter.com/officialshahidd 👉 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shahid-durrani/ 👉 Website: https://shahiddurrani.com/ ============================= CHAPTER STAMPS 00:00 – Meet Chris Miles: The Cash Flow Expert 01:32 – How High Earners Still Become Financially Trapped 04:59 – The Difference Between Being Rich and Being Free 06:04 – Why Passive Income Changes the Way You Run a Business 09:37 – How to Know If You're Becoming "Work Optional" 10:06 – Get Lean: Find the Money Leaks 12:56 – Get Liquid: Why Access to Cash Matters 14:17 – The 2007 Decision That Changed Everything 17:19 – How Close Chris Came to Losing Everything 19:28 – Losing the Family Home 21:04 – When Chris Wondered If He'd Ever Recover 22:19 – Finding Cash Flow While Nearly $1 Million in Debt 24:00 – The Books That Helped Chris Keep Going 25:37 – Turning Collection Calls Into "I Love You Calls" 26:50 – Chris's Three E's Morning Ritual 28:16 – From Near Collapse to $5 Million in Sales 28:39 – Rebuilding Financial Freedom for the Second Time 30:06 – Chris's Roughly $50K Monthly Passive Income Today 30:52 – Abundance Without Lying to Yourself 33:00 – Shahid on Identity, Conditioning and the Nervous System 35:30 – Your Financial "Thermostat" 37:03 – Why Money Magnifies Who You Already Are 38:01 – When Money Became Proof of Chris's Self-Worth 41:38 – Losing Everything—and Discovering His Value Without It 42:32 – Surrender, God and the Turning Point 43:58 – The Real Meaning of Financial Freedom 44:17 – What Social Media Gets Wrong About Infinite Banking 47:07 – How Chris Uses Whole Life Insurance 49:58 – Whole Life vs. Universal Life 51:40 – The Risks of Poorly Designed Policies 53:31 – How One Policy Could Cost Far More Than Another 56:59 – Why Chris Keeps Teaching What He Knows 58:44 – With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility 59:18 – Closing PULLOUT QUOTES "The real test of freedom is are you work optional where you know that money's coming in, whether you work or not?" Is College Still Worth It in the AI Era? $100M Founder John Fees Explains

What happens when the cost of college keeps rising while AI makes knowledge available almost instantly? That question sits at the heart of this conversation with John Fees, founder of GradGuard, a company approaching $100 million in sales after a 15-year journey to help protect college students and their families from financial risks many don't realize they're taking. John explains something surprisingly few parents consider: if a student has to leave school because of a covered medical issue, the university may not refund tuition, housing, or academic fees. That hidden problem became the foundation for GradGuard and its tuition and renters insurance programs. But this episode goes well beyond insurance. John and Shahid explore whether college is still worth the investment, how families should evaluate the value of a degree, the potential impact of AI on higher education, and why John believes universities may become increasingly important for developing the distinctly human capabilities technology can't easily reproduce. John also opens up about the entrepreneurial journey behind GradGuard. He shares why stubbornness helped him persist for 15 years, why complementary business partners can dramatically expand a founder's capabilities, and why mission-driven companies need to create value for employees, customers, partners, and communities—not simply shareholders. One idea keeps resurfacing throughout the conversation: AI may increasingly know how, but humans still need to ask why. For entrepreneurs, parents, students, and anyone wondering what education looks like in an AI-powered future, this conversation offers plenty to think about. 🔔 Super Entrepreneurs Podcast To watch more videos and get new video updates please subscribe to our channel and stay with us: https://www.youtube.com/@SuperEntrepreneursPod ✅ Stay Connected With Us: 👉 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/superentrepreneurs 👉 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/superentrepreneurspod 👉 X: https://twitter.com/officialshahidd 👉 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shahid-durrani/ 👉 Website: https://shahiddurrani.com/ ============================= CHAPTER STAMPS 00:00 – Meet John Fees, Founder of GradGuard 00:59 – The Hidden Financial Risk of Going to College 03:50 – Building GradGuard Toward $100M in Sales 06:31 – Why Paying Claims Became a Measure of Success 07:15 – Why College Students Are More Financially Vulnerable Than Parents Realize 12:14 – When Does College Become a Bad Investment? 15:12 – Why Students Leave College Before Graduating 18:50 – Why Human Skills Still Matter in an AI World 20:45 – John Fees on the Importance of Your Inner Life 23:35 – Entrepreneurship as an Expression of Your Values 26:31 – Why John Believes Entrepreneurs Should Consider Business Partners 29:08 – Why Entrepreneurs May Solve the World's Biggest Problems 36:46 – Is Education a Private Benefit or a Public Good? 39:10 – AI and the Changing Social Contract 41:25 – Education, Wages and the Responsibilities of Business Leaders 44:15 – Human Flourishing as an Entrepreneurial Legacy 44:55 – Five Things Parents Should Check Before Paying College Tuition 48:53 – How Families Can Evaluate Whether a Degree Is Worth the Money 49:36 – Using Strengths to Help Students Choose Their Future 53:11 – How to Find Your College's Refund Policy 54:51 – How GradGuard Got Universities to Embrace Tuition Insurance 57:09 – The Partnership Strategy Behind GradGuard 58:56 – Why People Distrust Insurance 01:02:03 – Conversations Parents Should Have Before Their Child Chooses College 01:04:10 – Finding Work That Gives You Energy 01:06:46 – What Are We Going to College to Learn If AI Knows Everything? 01:07:10 – AI Knows "How"—Humans Still Need to Understand "Why" 01:10:00 – Why AI Could Make Human Skills More Important 01:11:33 – Final Thoughts: Observe Your Thoughts, Emotions and Behavior Pullout Quotes: "There are always those who know how, working for those who know why." Richard Veach: From Bankruptcy to Building a $75M Business

Richard "Rick" Veach knows what it feels like to succeed, lose it, and have to build all over again. At 35, Rick says his net worth had reached $5 million. By 36, it had fallen to negative $1.5 million. He went through full bankruptcy with three young children at home and had to return to an industry he'd previously left just to begin rebuilding. But that wasn't the end of his entrepreneurial story. Today, Rick is the founder of Bottless Nation, an employee hydration company he says is on track for approximately $75–80 million in annual revenue. The business has roughly 360 team members, 30 direct offices, its own manufacturing capabilities, software operations, financing infrastructure, and a growing presence in Canada. In this episode of the Super Entrepreneurs Podcast, Rick and Shahid Durrani explore what actually happens internally when an entrepreneur has to start again. Rick shares why faith has played such an important role in his life, how an extraordinary college experience made him a lifelong student of goal setting and the subconscious mind, why entrepreneurs often wait far too long before acting, and why mistakes can become part of the investment required to become better. They also discuss family business, raising resilient children, building teams around a large vision, knowing what you don't know, and why Rick has little interest in conventional retirement. One idea runs throughout the conversation: you don't have to have everything figured out before you move. Sometimes you choose the direction, find the right people, make mistakes—and keep going. 🔔 Super Entrepreneurs Podcast To watch more videos and get new video updates please subscribe to our channel and stay with us: https://www.youtube.com/@SuperEntrepreneursPod ✅ Stay Connected With Us: 👉 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/superentrepreneurs 👉 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/superentrepreneurspod 👉 X: https://twitter.com/officialshahidd 👉 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shahid-durrani/ 👉 Website: https://shahiddurrani.com/ ============================= Chapter Stamps: 00:00 – Meet Richard "Rick" Veach and Bottless Nation 01:11 – How the Bottleless Water Business Began 03:36 – Building Toward $75–80 Million in Revenue 05:26 – Why Bottleless Water Can Be an Easier Business Sale 08:18 – The Opportunity Beyond Commercial Hydration 09:16 – Flavored Water, Wellness and New Technology 10:40 – Expanding Bottless Nation Into Canada 11:48 – Why Rick Isn't Building the Company to Sell 14:43 – What Rick Learned From His First Business Exit 17:59 – The Untapped Opportunity in Bottleless Water 21:17 – Why Rick Thinks Retirement Is a Terrible Idea 23:27 – Money, Purpose and What Drives Him at 60 25:55 – Why Doing Hard Things Keeps You Young 27:20 – Going From $5M Net Worth to Negative $1.5M 28:55 – Starting Again After Full Bankruptcy 30:22 – The Role Rick's Wife Played in the Rebuild 31:19 – Discovering the Business That Changed Everything 32:18 – Becoming the Number One Dealer in One Year 34:29 – Mindset, Goal Setting and the Subconscious 35:05 – The Number "86" Story That Changed Rick's Thinking 38:22 – Visualizing the Woman He Would Eventually Marry 40:40 – Faith, Prayer, Meditation and Seeing Possibility 42:04 – Why So Many People Can't Wait to Retire 45:13 – What Actually Matters When Scaling a Business 46:39 – Building a Dream Big Enough for Your Team 48:09 – Why People Don't Set Bigger Goals 50:25 – Why Entrepreneurs Overcomplicate Success 52:22 – "Why Not Me?" and Learning to Believe Bigger 55:23 – How Much Do You Need to Know Before Taking Action? 58:11 – Choosing Failure Over a Life of Regret 59:16 – What Rick Taught His Sons About Resilience 01:02:39 – His Son Got Sued on Day One of Business 01:04:08 – Why Struggle Can Become a Blessing 01:05:33 – Rick's Advice to Anyone Sitting on a Business Idea #super #superentrepreneurs #shahiddurrani #RichardVeach #BottlessNation #entrepreneurship #businessmindset #businessgrowth #leadership #resilience Pullout Quotes "I went from a net worth of five million when I was 35 to a net worth of negative 1.5 million when I was 36." YOUR BUSINESS CAN'T SCALE… BECAUSE OF YOU.

What happens when your business grows—but every decision, problem, and question still comes back to you? At some point, working harder stops being the answer. In this episode of the Super Entrepreneurs Podcast, Shahid Durrani sits down with Lindsay White, founder of High Voltage Leadership, fractional people/HR expert, leadership coach, and people strategy specialist, to explore one of the most difficult transitions in entrepreneurship: moving from founder to CEO. Lindsay explains why founders can unintentionally become the bottleneck in their own companies, even after hiring talented people. The problem often isn't simply delegation. It's trust, clarity, leadership, identity, and the difficulty of letting go of work that has become connected to who the founder believes they are. The conversation gets practical, too. Lindsay explains why founders should delegate outcomes rather than tasks, how excessive involvement can weaken creativity and ownership, and why accountability problems are often clarity problems in disguise. She also shares her approach to people strategy: starting with the company's long-term vision, understanding what the founder should and shouldn't be doing, assessing the team's existing capabilities, identifying future talent needs, and building a roadmap around where the company is actually going. Shahid and Lindsay also explore the growing role of AI inside organizations. Rather than viewing AI simply as a replacement for human work, they discuss how intelligently implemented technology can free people to spend more time on creative, strategic, and relationship-driven work. And underneath all of it is a bigger question: Who does the founder need to become for the company to reach its next stage? If you're building a team but still feel like you're carrying the company yourself, this episode offers a thoughtful look at leadership, accountability, people strategy, culture, delegation, AI, and building a business that can eventually operate without your constant involvement. Lindsay's broader work centers on leadership, people strategy, and culture as foundations for sustainable growth. 🔔 Super Entrepreneurs Podcast To watch more videos and get new video updates please subscribe to our channel and stay with us: https://www.youtube.com/@SuperEntrepreneursPod ✅ Stay Connected With Us: 👉 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/superentrepreneurs 👉 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/superentrepreneurspod 👉 X: https://twitter.com/officialshahidd 👉 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shahid-durrani/ 👉 Website: https://shahiddurrani.com/ CHAPTER STAMPS 00:00 – Meet Lindsay White: Leadership, People Strategy & Culture 02:09 – How Founders Become the Bottleneck 04:35 – What If You Don't Realize You're the Problem? 07:01 – Why Trusting Your Team Starts With Trusting Yourself 09:03 – When Your Identity Gets Attached to the Work 11:11 – Starting With the End in Mind 12:58 – Turning Your Future Vision Into a Team Strategy 16:08 – Signs Your Founder Mindset Has Become Outdated 18:09 – Building a Culture People Want to Be Part Of 20:07 – Why Great Leaders Listen More 21:16 – How Over-Involvement Weakens Your Team 23:26 – Ownership vs. Accountability 24:42 – How to Transition From Founder to CEO 26:43 – Lindsay's People Strategy Framework 29:34 – The Identity Shift Required to Scale 32:49 – How to Build a Business That Runs Without You 34:24 – AI, Digital Teams & the Future of Work 37:24 – Why AI Could Make Human Work More Human 41:16 – Delegate Outcomes, Not Tasks 44:40 – Perfectionism, Micromanagement & Letting Go 47:12 – Building Accountability in Small Teams 49:51 – Final Thoughts Pullout Quotes:  "We need to think about ourselves not as the chief everything officer, but as the CEO." IF THEY CAN TRIGGER YOU…THEY CONTROL YOU

What does it really take to stay calm when everything around you is telling you to panic? For Sam Rosenberg, that question became deeply personal when, as a young college bouncer, a man pulled a gun and pointed it directly at his face. Sam was physically capable, athletic, and accustomed to confrontation—but in that moment, he froze. The experience taught him something that would shape the next three decades of his career: physical strength means very little if your mind can't continue thinking under pressure. Sam went on to serve as a Marine officer before entering the world of close protection, working with high-profile individuals including Warren Buffett and Tom Cruise. Today, through Live Ready, he helps individuals and organizations develop the preparedness, protective intelligence, situational awareness, and decision-making skills needed to navigate difficult situations. But this conversation goes well beyond personal security. Sam and Shahid explore why confidence comes from competence, what it means to become comfortable in uncomfortable situations, and why strong leadership depends on your ability to think clearly while everyone else is reacting emotionally. They also go deep into intuition. Why do we sometimes know something feels wrong before we can explain why? Why do people override that signal? Sam explains how normalcy bias can cause us to rationalize warning signs—and why learning to distinguish genuine intuition from biased or conditioned thinking matters not only for personal safety, but also when hiring people, choosing partners, making business decisions, and navigating everyday life. You'll also hear Sam's perspective on detachment, self-awareness, reacting to other people's opinions, predator selection, and why simply trying to look confident isn't enough. As Sam puts it: "Confidence comes from competence." If you're an entrepreneur, executive, parent, or anyone who wants to become more capable of thinking clearly when uncertainty hits, this conversation offers a very different perspective on what genuine confidence actually looks like. 🔔 Super Entrepreneurs Podcast To watch more videos and get new video updates please subscribe to our channel and stay with us: https://www.youtube.com/@SuperEntrepreneursPod ✅ Stay Connected With Us: 👉 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/superentrepreneurs 👉 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/superentrepreneurspod 👉 X: https://twitter.com/officialshahidd 👉 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shahid-durrani/ 👉 Website: https://shahiddurrani.com/ ============================= Chapter Stamps: 00:00 – Meet Sam Rosenberg 01:18 – Protecting Warren Buffett, Tom Cruise & High-Profile Clients 06:08 – The Gunpoint Moment That Changed Sam's Life 11:16 – "It Was Not My Body That Failed Me. Digna DeLeon-Morris: From Losing Millions to Building a $37M Agency

What happens when hard work gets you somewhere, but your beliefs, financial habits, and systems aren't ready to keep you there? Digna DeLeon-Morris knows that experience firsthand. She came to the United States at 17 searching for the American dream, built a career in corporate America, became an entrepreneur, made millions with her husband and then, as Digna shares in this conversation, lost it all in 2016 after realizing they lacked the financial education needed to protect what they had built. She rebuilt. Today, Digna says her insurance agency has generated $37 million in the last 18 months, while helping aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly immigrants and members of the Latino community, build businesses of their own. In this episode of the Super Entrepreneurs Podcast, Digna and Shahid Durrani explore the relationship between identity, money, entrepreneurship, mentorship, systems, and financial freedom. Why can someone work incredibly hard and still remain financially stuck? Why do some people finally make money, only to lose momentum or spend what they've earned instead of reinvesting it? And if you had to rebuild your financial life from scratch, where would you actually begin? Digna shares lessons from her own setbacks, including rebuilding after significant financial losses, learning to think beyond the security of a paycheck, finding mentors, developing better systems, and focusing on becoming the person capable of building and sustaining a business. She also explains why she believes entrepreneurs are always building two things at once: their business and themselves. If you're reconsidering your career, rebuilding after a setback, or simply questioning whether working harder is really the answer, this conversation offers plenty to think about. 🔔 Super Entrepreneurs Podcast To watch more videos and get new video updates please subscribe to our channel and stay with us: https://www.youtube.com/@SuperEntrepreneursPod ✅ Stay Connected With Us: 👉 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/superentrepreneurs 👉 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/superentrepreneurspod 👉 X: https://twitter.com/officialshahidd 👉 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shahid-durrani/ 👉 Website: https://shahiddurrani.com/ ============================= Chapter Stamps: 00:00 – Meet Digna DeLeon-Morris 01:32 – Coming to America at 17 and Chasing the American Dream 03:51 – Making Millions, Losing It All and Finding a New Purpose 06:56 – Why Belief Can Determine What You Build 11:39 – Rewriting the "Software" Behind Your Identity 15:23 – Why Hard Work Alone Won't Make You Rich 18:55 – How to Step Outside Your Current Mental Frame 25:02 – What Happens When Your Family Doesn't Understand Your Dream 26:44 – Where to Begin When You Feel Financially Stuck 30:28 – Why Ambition Without Systems Isn't Enough 31:47 – Digna's System for Developing New Entrepreneurs 33:52 – What Keeps People Financially Stuck? 35:04 – How Ego Can Quietly Get in the Way 38:28 – Why People Make Money and Then Fall Back 39:25 – The Financial Setback That Forced Digna to Think Bigger 43:45 – How to Rebuild Your Financial Life From Scratch 49:35 – Why Digna Chose the Insurance Industry 52:59 – Your First 30 Days: Taking Inventory of Your Life 55:24 – What Could Change in 90 Days? 56:42 – Why Smart People Still Make Poor Financial Decisions 57:50 – Rebuilding Confidence After Financial Loss 01:00:17 – The Identity Shift That Changed Digna's Life 01:05:07 – The Financial Skill Digna Believes Matters Going Forward 01:12:22 – Digna's Gift for the Super Entrepreneurs Community Pullout Quotes:  "You can't see the picture if you're in the frame." Matt Dalio Explains Why Creation Beats Consumption

AI is changing the world faster than ever-but are we preparing the next generation for what's coming? In this thought-provoking episode of the Super Entrepreneurs Podcast, Shahid Durrani sits down with Matt Dalio, founder of Endless Studios, to discuss why creativity, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving may become far more valuable than traditional technical skills in an AI-driven economy. Rather than teaching young people to simply consume technology, Matt believes we should help them become builders. Through game creation, collaboration, and hands-on learning, students develop resilience, curiosity, confidence, and the mindset needed to thrive in a future where artificial intelligence is everywhere. The conversation also explores the importance of profitable businesses over vanity metrics, the relationship between mindset and execution, journaling as a leadership tool, why distribution often matters more than product, and how entrepreneurs can build businesses that create both impact and long-term sustainability. Whether you're a founder, educator, parent, or simply curious about where AI is taking us, this episode offers practical ideas and a refreshing perspective on preparing people-not just technology-for the future. 🔔 Super Entrepreneurs Podcast To watch more videos and get new video updates please subscribe to our channel and stay with us: https://www.youtube.com/@SuperEntrepreneursPod ✅ Stay Connected With Us: 👉 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/superentrepreneurs 👉 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialshahiddurrani/ 👉 SEP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/superentrepreneurspod 👉 X: https://twitter.com/officialshahidd 👉 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shahid-durrani/ 👉 Website: https://shahiddurrani.com/ Chapter Stamps 00:00 – Introduction & Free Founder Resources 01:30 – Meet Matt D'Alio and Endless Studios 05:40 – Preparing Young People for an AI Economy 09:15 – Mindset vs Skillset: Which Matters More? 13:20 – Why Play Builds Confidence and Grit 18:00 – Finding Joy While Building a Business 22:15 – Building a Profitable Company Instead of Chasing Funding 27:00 – Product vs Vanity Metrics 33:40 – Why Creators Win Over Consumers 35:20 – Journaling for Better Leadership and Clarity 40:05 – Communication as a Superpower 42:40 – The Importance of Distribution for Entrepreneurs 45:40 – Final Thoughts & Closing Advice Pullout Quotes: "The future of the world kind of depends on whether the three billion young people under the age of 25 all are power users of the thing or replaced by the thing."
