Friday Family Film Night: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA review

In which the Kid 1 joins me in reviewing PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (2004), director Joel Schumacher’s 2004 cinematic adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical, with screenplay credits to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Joel Schumacher, and based off Gaston Leroux's novel "Le Fantôme de L'Opéra". A disfigured, musical genius known only as the Phantom (Gerard Butler) haunts the catacombs of the Paris Opera House while secretly tutoring a rising young chorus girl named Christine Daaé (Emmy Rossum). As the Phantom’s obsession with Christine deepens, he resorts to increasingly sinister acts of sabotage and terror to ensure she takes center stage, driving a wedge between her and her childhood sweetheart, Raoul (Patrick Wilson). Friday Family Film Night: LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS review

In which the Mister and Kid 2 join me in reviewing LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (1986), a musical horror-comedy from director Frank Oz, with screenplay and musical play credits to Howard Ashman, and based off 1960s screenplay by Charles B. Griffith and Roger Corman's film. A timid and down-on-his-luck floral assistant named Seymour Krelborn (Rick Moranis) working in a dilapidated Skid Row flower shop discovers a strange, exotic new plant that he names "Audrey II." As Seymour desperately tries to win the affections of his coworker Audrey (Ellen Greene), he soon realizes the bizarre plant requires a steady diet of fresh human blood to survive, causing it to grow into a gargantuan, talking attraction.
