ADULTING podcast Ep 1. Entrepreneurship vs Full Time corporate job

Hey guys,   I launched this series as part of my content plan because I am extremely passionate about sharing adulating tips that the people in my network have learned along the way. As I like to say, this adulating thing is not easy. It will hopefully get easier the more we get a chance to share our gems with one another. For this first episode, I got a chance to sit with two amazing boss babes to discuss the current trend of entrepreneurship versus working full-time in corporate America. We are currently riding a wave where entrepreneurship is hip. But when did it become cool to be an entrepreneur? I mean I get the reasons why we all would be attracted to it: It feeds into our need to be recognized, to be rich, and feel as though we are living life on our own terms. The reality is... It’s not cool, you worry about money on a daily basis, your business lives with you meaning when you don’t work, your business is dying. That remains the case until you can afford to hire a qualified manager.  Here are some statistics for us. 75 new businesses are launched every single hour.  50 % of those businesses launched fail in their first 18 months. 1 in 3 entrepreneurs experience depression. On the flip side, it is also true that 80% of employees worldwide feel disconnected from the work that they do. I think what’s consistent in both cases is a deeper yearning for a sense of purpose.    My two guests were Reese Riley; amazing brand manager and Shari Lucas lead event manager.  Please read their brief bio’s below. We tried this in studio format for the first one for future episodes, I will make them traditional sit down interviews. As you can see In the video, we had some bad technical difficulties that caused interruptions to the episode hence my reason for adjusting the format. I hope to bring back these ladies individually as they both had so much value to offer. Hope you enjoy the episode. Please let us know your feedback. Also send me an email if there is any specific topic that you would like me to cover on a future episode.   Reese Riley’s Bio: Reese Riley is the ultimate go getter and master of her traits. From a humble start working at small mom & pop restaurants to working for one of the worlds biggest hospitality groups Marriott international, Reese has developed an impressive resume. She’s now the owner of her two brands RHMG, the hospitality group & R By Riley specializing in Brand Management. Reese Riley defines her life as daily act of service. The price of success is hard work & whether it’s a big win or a small loss Reese dedicates herself to helping people develop & project their best selves.  Follow Reese Riley on Instagram: www.instagram.com/rbyriley   Shari Lucas’ Bio: Shari Lucas  is the Senior Sales and Events Manager at Two Bit Circus in Downtown Los Angeles. 12+ years experience in business development in the area of corporate and social events. Skilled in creating and managing all phases of event planning across a broad range of budgets, themes and audiences for established companies as well as startups.
