The Gift Of Desperation - Episode 17 with Shae Lozano

In this episode of The Clockwork Junkie Podcast, I sit down with Shae from @graceforsoberity for a deeply honest conversation about faith, sobriety, hope and what it really means to be a Christian in today's world. You Can Support The Podcast & Find All Of My Links Here: https://linktr.ee/clockworkjunkiepodcast 👈 Shae has been sober for over a decade, and in this conversation she opens up about her own journey and the experiences that brought her to where she is today. We talk about what long-term sobriety actually looks like, the challenges that come with it, and why sharing your story can sometimes be one of the most powerful ways of helping someone else who may be struggling. Follow Shae on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/graceforsobriety?igsi=ZGhkdXFqZWZldnow But this conversation goes far beyond sobriety. We talk about faith and what it means to be a Christian in a world built around instant gratification, constant distraction and the pressure to have everything we want immediately. How do you find hope when life feels difficult? How do you stay grounded when the world around you seems to be pulling you in every direction? And what does it actually mean to live out your Christian faith in today's world—not just talk about it? Shae brings honesty, vulnerability and a huge amount of hope to this conversation, sharing her experiences not because she has all the answers, but because she wants others to know that change is possible and that there can be something better on the other side of the struggle. This is a conversation about faith without pretending life is easy, sobriety without sugar-coating the journey, and hope when you need it most. If you're struggling with addiction, questioning your faith, trying to make a change in your life, or simply wondering whether there is more to life than the constant chase for the next thing, this episode is for you. More Than Just A Race - Tony O'Connor - Episode 16

In this episode of The Clockwork Junkie Podcast, I sit down with Tony O'Connor. You Can Support The Podcast & Find All Of My Links Here: https://linktr.ee/clockworkjunkiepodcast 👈 Tony is a Head Chef working at Shane Lowry's "The Old Warehouse" in Tullamore but this Saturday he's swapping the kitchen for something a little more extreme as he takes on the 7km Hell & Back race in tribute to his beloved nanny, who is living with vascular dementia. And when I say extreme, I mean it. Bogs. Mud. Cold plunges. Obstacles. And yes... people firing rubber bullets at you while you're trying to get through the course! We talk about his training, what possessed him to sign up for Hell & Back in the first place, and what he's expecting when race day arrives. But beneath the race day is a much more important reason for doing it. Tony opens up about his nanny and vascular dementia, and we have an honest conversation about the devastating impact dementia can have—not only on the person living with it, but also on the family and loved ones watching someone they care about slowly change. This is an episode with plenty of laughs, but also a conversation that comes from the heart. Tony is raising money in tribute to his nanny, and I've left his "idonate link" in the description of this episode here: Tony's idonate link: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/anthonyoconnor750?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAdGRzdgT5F2NwZG9mAmV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDzU2NzA2NzM0MzM1MjQyNwABp6Zw2pFJMV6HZmrbX7KnbvvDj8Bs8pLJYmEhRjnzYL6CHMNc_k9seI_bEyDI_aem_If6OhJ8wp0u7CCoiIwcayQ Tastewith_Tony Instagram link: https://www.instagram.com/tastewith_tony?igsi=NXQwenRmMmdnY21i If you'd like to support him and the cause, please consider donating—every contribution makes a difference. In this episode of The Clockwork Junkie Podcast, I'm joined by Cathal and Rebecca, the founders of Different Minds, Same Heart—a growing campaign dedicated to promoting greater understanding, kindness and acceptance of neurodivergence. Both Cathal and Rebecca are autistic, and Rebecca also lives with ADHD. Together, they share their deeply personal journey of late diagnosis, masking, anxiety, burnout, relationships and the challenges of navigating a world that isn't always designed for neurodivergent minds. We also explore why they decided to turn one of the most important moments of their lives—their journey towards marriage—into a campaign that is already inspiring people and organisations across Ireland. Different Minds Same Heart: Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1HM8xycx1F/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/projectdmsh?igsh=bDgyajdwbXlkem9y This isn't a conversation about labels. It's a conversation about people. About being understood. About challenging assumptions. And about recognising that although our minds may work differently, our hopes, fears, emotions and desire to belong are something we all share. Whether you're neurodivergent yourself, know someone who is, or simply want to better understand the experiences of others, I hope this conversation leaves you with a little more empathy, a little more curiosity and a reminder that kindness is something every one of us can choose. I hope you enjoy the conversation. Mark McCormack Creator & Host  The Clockwork Junkie Podcast

The Inner Upgrade - Episode #13

What if the life you're living right now isn't the life you're capable of living? In Episode 13 of The Clockwork Junkie Podcast, I sit down with Lord Ashley Phipps Warren for a fascinating conversation about transformation, mindset, purpose and the power of reinventing yourself. Ashley's journey has taken him through business, leadership, personal development and public speaking, but what stood out most during our conversation was a simple truth: no matter where you are today, your future does not have to look like your past. We discuss the reality of success, the lessons learned through adversity, why so many people stay trapped in lives they no longer want, and what it really takes to create meaningful change. This isn't a conversation about overnight success or motivational clichés. It's about taking responsibility, making better decisions and understanding that transformation begins from within. We also explore self-belief, discipline, mindset, personal growth, the stories we tell ourselves, and why one decision can completely alter the direction of a life. Whether you're feeling stuck, searching for purpose, rebuilding after setbacks or simply looking for inspiration to take the next step forward, this episode is packed with powerful insights and practical wisdom. Because sometimes the biggest upgrade you'll ever make isn't external. It's the one that happens within. Not Another Personal Trainer - Episode #12

The fitness industry is full of quick fixes, fad diets and coaches promising life-changing results in 30 days. But what happens when you strip away the marketing and focus on what actually works? In this episode of The Clockwork Junkie Podcast, I sit down with personal trainer Shauna from *Not Another PT* for an honest conversation about health, fitness and the realities of helping people make lasting changes in their lives. We discuss the powerful connection between physical health and mental wellbeing, the truth about nutrition, sustainable weight loss, training for the long term and why consistency will always beat extremes. We also talk about the darker side of the fitness industry. The copy-and-paste coaching plans, social media gurus, unrealistic promises and the difference between trainers who genuinely care about their clients and those simply chasing money. What stood out most about Shauna was how down-to-earth, open and knowledgeable she is. This wasn't a conversation about six-pack abs or fitness trends. It was a conversation about becoming healthier, stronger and happier in a way that actually lasts. Whether you're just starting your fitness journey or you've spent years trying different diets and workout plans, there's something in this episode for everyone. A refreshing, honest and practical discussion about fitness, mindset and building a healthier life. Ireland's Most Notorious Cold Case - Episode #11

If you're fascinated by true crime, unsolved mysteries and the cases that refuse to disappear, this is an episode you won't want to miss. My guest this week is Liv Kirwan, creator of a gripping eight-part audio series investigating one of Ireland's most notorious cold cases — a mystery that has remained unsolved for more than forty years and continues to generate questions, theories and speculation to this day. Before we delve into the case itself, Liv shares her own remarkable journey. We talk about leaving Ireland behind, escaping the rat race, relocating to the mountains of Portugal with her husband Mark, surviving a devastating wildfire and witnessing first hand the aftermath. From there, we turn our attention to the cold case that captured her attention and led to years of research, investigation and storytelling. We discuss what drew her to the mystery, the evidence, the unanswered questions and why some cases continue to haunt people decades later. This is a conversation about curiosity, resilience, obsession, tragedy and the enduring power of an unsolved story. If you're a fan of true crime, cold cases and long-form investigations, you're going to enjoy this one. The Desert Wasn't Empty - Episode #10

For ten years I lived with chronic depression. This isn't a conversation about quick fixes, motivational quotes or pretending everything will be okay. It's the most honest account I've ever shared about what those ten years were really like. In this deeply personal episode, I talk about the sleepless nights, the panic, the feeling of being trapped inside my own mind, the moment I looked in the mirror and barely recognised myself, and the decision that ultimately changed everything. You Can Support The Podcast Here: buymeacoffee.com/clockworkjunkie 👈 Find my links here: https://linktr.ee/clockworkjunkiepodcast 👈 I also explain how I slowly rebuilt my life—not overnight, but one small step at a time—and why, six years after recovering, I still work on my mental health every single day. Along the way I share something I've rarely spoken about publicly: the strange and overwhelming sense that, during my darkest moments, the desert I found myself in wasn't empty. At the time I couldn't explain it. Looking back today, I see that part of my journey very differently. Whether you've struggled with depression yourself, love someone who has, or simply want to understand what it's really feels like from the inside, I hope this episode reminds you that you're never as alone as you think you are. If this conversation resonates with you, please consider following the Podcast, leaving a rating or review, and sharing the episode with someone who may need to hear it. Sometimes hope begins with a single conversation.  Thank You, Create & Host Mark McCormack
