    Episode 14 Season 14 Righteousnesss

    Send us Fan Mail It is better to be righteous than it is to be right. Therefore, put on the breastplate of righteousness. Ephesians 6:14b. Hello and welcome to CGM Presents: In the Word. This is Episode 14, Spiritual Warfare Scriptures, Season 14. Our spiritual warfare scripture for this episode is Ephesians 6:14b. Put on the breastplate of righteousness. I attended an event with a group of ladies, and one of the women made the statement. “It is better to be righteous than it is to be right.” I do not recall to whom the statement was originally attributed and could not find the author after researching the quote. Nevertheless, it is a powerful statement which caused me to think about what righteousness means in the biblical sense. Why is it better to be righteous rather than to be right? Because God is righteous, Jesus exemplified righteousness when He was on earth, and the Holy Spirit gives us the power to live righteously. My simple definition of God’s righteousness is that He always does what is right. He does what is right, holy, faithful, and true. Here are just a few of the over 500 scriptures derived from the root word “righteous” or “righteousness” in the Bible. Psalm 11:7 — “For the Lord is righteous; he loves righteous deeds.” Psalm 97:2 — “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.” Psalm 119:137 — “Righteous are you, O Lord, and right are your rules.” Psalm 145:17 — “The Lord is righteous in all his ways.” Deuteronomy 32:4 — “A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.” Daniel 9:14 — “The Lord our God is righteous in all the works that he has done.” Romans 1:17 — “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith.” Romans 3:21–22 — “The righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law… through faith in Jesus Christ.”  God is righteous, and because he is righteous, he expects us to be righteous, and when we are righteous, we are able to wage spiritual warfare more effectively. Let’s consider the breastplate of God’s righteousness. The breastplate in the military sense was a metal vest that guarded the vital organs, in particular the heart. In comparison, the breastplate of righteousness is the spiritual armor that protects the heart and vital organs from spiritual attacks designed against you. It is your Holy Ghost armor. The Holy Spirit uses the breastplate of God’s righteousness to cover your heart from attacks that prevent you from waging spiritual warfare. Whatever you are going through right now, you can focus on the spiritual fight instead of being concerned about other influences because God has your heart covered. Proverbs 4:23 tells us, "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." Desiring righteousness will make you want to serve God and be pleasing to Him; being righteous will help you to walk more closely with God. It will make you want to be more like God. We have a tendency as human beings to want to be right. Nobody really wants to be wrong, and it’s very difficult for us to admit when we are wrong. Basically, we would prefer to always be right or right most of the time; consequently, because we have difficulty admitting when we are wrong, it could cause us to be puffed up and not be humble. Humility, as we have already discussed in a previous podcast, is important. So, righteousness keeps us humble as well because righteousness takes precedence over being right. So, the next time you want to be right about something, ask yourself the question, is it righteous? If the answer is “no” tighten up your righteousness breastplate and move forward into the next spiritual warfare battle.   Thank you for joining us today.     Episode 13, "Humilty in Spiritual Warfare" Season 14, Spiritual Warfare Scripture

    Send us Fan Mail Today's podcast is about humility and its role in spiritual warfare. Our scripture is Daniel Chapter 4:37b, "And those who walk in pride he is able to humble." These are the words of King Nebuchadnezzar II as he spoke about God. Nebuchadnezzar II was a Babylonian King who reigned from around 605 to 562 BCE. Among his many military conquests is the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BCE. He is also known for his many ambitious building projects, including the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. He is also famous for his praise of God in the Book of Daniel, chapters 2-4. In chapter 2, after Daniel interprets the king’s dream of an enormous statue, the king said, “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.” In chapter three, the king saw the three Hebrew boys escape the fiery furnace he had thrown them into for defying his order to worship an idol statue. After they emerged from that fire unscathed, Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces, and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.” Again, in chapter four, the king pays homage to God, but only after he went mad for esteeming himself above the One, True God. After the king repented, his sanity was restored, and he said: “Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.” Daniel 4:37 NIV We can only hope that God reached Nebuchadnezzar in chapter 4. His humility lasted only a little while after chapter 2. It is believed that 20-30 years will pass before we reach chapter 4. These chapters, especially chapter four, are about being humble and subduing pride. The most compelling reason to be humble is that we are all going to die. Yes, we are all going back to dust. Humility is a spiritual warfare weapon because you cannot be successful in spiritual warfare without three things—first submitting to the will of God, then admitting that you can do nothing without Him, and finally, committing to do what He leads you to do after you submit and admit. Humility subdues pride and puts pride under your foot where it belongs because God hates a proud look. Thus, God cannot be present with you in spiritual warfare if you are garnered in pride. So, for success in spiritual warfare, cover your armor in humble submission to his will. And don’t be like King Nebuchadnezzar, whose humility was temporary. Be steadfast and stay humble all the days of your life.     Episode 12, "Faith on Fire" Season 14, Spiritual Warfare Scriptures

    Send us Fan Mail Hello and welcome to CGM Presents: In the Word. My name is Dr. Stephanie Wright. On behalf of Charles George Missions, welcome to “Spiritual Warfare Scriptures.” The resource for this series is the Word of God—the Bible—and the book “Spiritual Warfare Manual: ABC to PhD,” written by yours truly. Today’s spiritual warfare scripture is about faith, which comes from Ephesians 6, verse 16, and reads: Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Faith is a spiritual warfare weapon because we use it to quench ALL the fiery dart of the enemy. All means all, and that’s all that all means. But it is our faith in God that will bring us through all fiery trials. Can you recall the most fiery test or trial that you have been through since the Lord came into your life? Did you recall this scripture on faith when you went through that test? Ephesians 6, verses 13-17 are among the most influential scriptures on spiritual warfare—they tell us to put on the whole armor of God. But as we stay focused on the shield of faith and quenching the fiery darts of Satan’s attacks, I think about the Hebrew boys in Daniel, Chapter 3. Theirs was the seminal case for true faith in God. When they were thrown into the fire, they had the Angel of the Lord as their shield, which some believe was the pre-incarnate Jesus. When they came out of that fire, Daniel 3:27 said the fire had no power over their bodies, “nor was a hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.” So, it is with us when we use the shield of faith to quench the fiery darts of our enemies. Jesus will be with us in the fire, through the fire, and when we come out of the fire. He will never leave us nor forsake us. Hebrews 13:5. And when we come out of our test—as some saints say—we won’t look like what we’ve been through either. So, remember Ephesians 6:16 the next time you face a fiery trial. Above all, take the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And please remember the key phrase in that verse—”all the fiery darts”—because all means all the fiery darts, no exclusions. Thank you for joining us today. In all your ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct your paths.” Trust is a spiritual warfare weapon because we have to trust God in our spiritual battles. Compare this in the natural to the military soldier who trusts his commanders and fellow soldiers in war.     Episode 10, "Rest in the Lord" Season 14: Spiritual Warfare

    Send us Fan Mail Hello and welcome to CGM Presents: In the Word. My name is Dr. Stephanie Wright. On behalf of Charles George Missions, welcome to Season 14, “Spiritual Warfare.” This is episode 10 in our series, entitled “Spiritual Warfare Scriptures.” The resource for this series is the Word of God—the Bible—and the book “Spiritual Warfare Manual: ABC to PhD,” written by yours truly. Sit back, relax, and take a deep breath because today’s spiritual warfare scripture is about rest. Matthew 11:28 says, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”   Rest is a spiritual warfare weapon because spiritual warfare is perpetual—never-ending. When you commit your life to Christ, it is a lifetime commitment. There is no discharge from the Lord’s army, so you will need to learn to rest in the Lord. Also remember, there is a great reward in serving Him— ETERNAL LIFE, and other bonuses we do not even know about are the compensation we receive. 1 Cor. 2:9 tells us we haven’t seen nor heard, nor has our heart known the things God has prepared for us who love him. And consider this. The military soldier takes something called R&R (Rest and Relaxation). The spiritual warfare soldier has to do the same. It may not be a trip to a tropical island, although that would be nice. You may take an afternoon off and do what you please. But take a break and lighten up. Rest is good for your heart and soul. Prov. 17:22 tells us, A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. You need to refresh yourself for the next battle. My R&R includes sitting in a comfortable chair, viewing and listening to nature from my window during prayer time. The moment I sit down, I exhale, and I know I am at peace with God. So, take time every day, even if it’s only 15 minutes, and rest in the Lord. Rest is another weapon in your spiritual warfare arsenal. Thank you for joining us today.     Episode 9, "They That Wait Upon the Lord," Isaiah 40:31, Season 14 "Spiritual Warfare"

    Send us Fan Mail Today’s spiritual warfare scripture comes from Isaiah 40:31. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.” One of the most powerful weapons in our spiritual warfare arsenal is waiting on God. It is powerful because we do not realize what He is doing in the background for us while we are waiting. But when we are obedient to the Word of God, which tells us to “wait upon the Lord,” we honor Him, and because we honor Him by honoring His Word, He will do for us what Isaiah 40:31 says He will do. I speak based on a recent personal experience I alluded to in the last podcast. It took four years with a situation that was very painful, but in the end, in the course of my waiting and being obedient, praying, fasting, and listening to the Holy Spirit — in the end, God showed me all that he was doing in the background while I was waiting on Him to bring success so that I could mount up with wings as an eagle. God moved my enemies out of the way, exposed their lies, and empowered me, emotionally, financially, and most of all spiritually. He is now teaching me to run and not be weary as I fulfill the tasks that came with the victory. God gives us the victory, so that we can walk in it, and not be weary. Again, I waited upon the Lord during this four-year test by continuing in reading and studying His Word, praying with fasting, staying in church, giving financially and personally to the Lord's work—in short, I was obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit. And, yes, I prayed for my enemies. While we are waiting on him, he will strengthen us, and when the test is finally over, we will see what he has been doing in the background. If you don't see it in this life, maybe He will reveal it to you in the next life—but truthfully, I don’t think you will care when you get to heaven. So, wait on the Lord for He shall renew your strength, and you shall mount up with wings as an eagle, you shall run and not be weary, and you shall walk and not faint.     Episode 8, "No Weapon Shall Prosper"

    Send us Fan Mail Hello and welcome to CGM Presents: In the Word. My name is Dr. Stephanie Wright. On behalf of Charles George Missions, welcome to Season 14, “Spiritual Warfare.” This is episode 8, and we are starting a new series, “Spiritual Warfare Scriptures.” The resource for this series is the book “Spiritual Warfare Manual: ABC to PhD,” written by yours truly. We will focus on one scripture each time we meet, and these will be vignettes or very short presentations. Use these scriptures to build up your arsenal for spiritual warfare by memorizing, meditating and implementing them into your daily walk with the Lord. Today’s scripture is from Isaiah 54:17, No weapon that is formed against YOU shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against YOU in judgment YOU shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. Why is this such a popular scripture? I believe it’s popular because it represents victory in whatever turmoil, task, or terror that the enemy tries to attack you with. No weapon means “no weapon,” but it does not mean a weapon won’t be formed; it means the weapon will not prevail against you. No weapon formed against you will meet its intended end. So, if someone is trying to destroy you, physically, mentally, financially—they are not going to succeed because God will step aside and let the enemy turn on them, and they in turn will start fighting against each other. I have experienced this firsthand. God stepped aside and allowed the enemy to attack my enemies, and then those same enemies started turning on each other. Let’s look at the second half of Isaiah 54:17. People often overlook the second half of this verse, and every tongue that shall rise against YOU in judgment YOU shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. This tells us that the words people speak are weapons but again, their word weapons will not prevail against you. But what does this scripture tell us to do when words are spoken against us in judgment? It is our right—our heritage because Jesus gave us that right through His victory on the Cross—our responsibility to speak against those things and speak good things into our lives. This is why we need to know the Word of God. This is why we need scriptures in our arsenal so we can wage spiritual warfare against Satan and his demonic forces. This is why in this series, we are studying scriptures on spiritual warfare to prepare you   formed against you shall prosper.” Thank you for joining us today.
