What If You Knew Every Bad Thing Coming Your Way? | Connecting Faith & Life with Mister Brown Ep147

I was sitting in my truck early for a meeting, thinking about how fast the world is changing with artificial intelligence. It feels like we can access any information we want, but it made me wonder: can we really handle knowing everything?  Reflecting on our Sunday school series on the life of Joseph, I realized something profound. If Joseph had known ahead of time that his brothers would sell him into slavery or that he would be forgotten in a dark prison cell, I don't think he could have handled it. Not knowing tomorrow forces us into a position of pure trust. No matter how dysfunctional your situation feels, you can hold onto the promise of Hebrews 13:5: He will never leave you nor forsake you. We are saved by grace through faith for a specific purpose, even when that purpose makes us completely uncomfortable. Watch now and let's discuss: Can you trust God with the things you don't know?  Questions for personal reflection: If you could see everything that was going to happen to you next month, do you think you could handle it, or would it cause you more anxiety? Why?  How does knowing that God worked through Joseph's messy family history encourage you regarding your own family's imperfections?  How does resting in the promise "I will never leave you nor forsake you" help us find true contentment when life gets hard?  Has there been a time in your life when a situation felt uncomfortable, but you later realized God was using it for a good purpose? Does Your Work Matter When Nobody Is Watching? | Connecting Faith & Life with Mister Brown Ep146

Have you ever found yourself just going through the motions at work, home, or school? I've definitely been there. In this podcast, I share a personal story from my days working as an after-school program director where I caught myself completely cutting corners. But right in the middle of it, a sudden wave of conviction hit me: Would I work this way if Jesus was sitting here?  When we truly understand Colossians 3:23, our entire motivation shifts. We realize we aren’t working for human bosses, grades, or recognition. We are working for God. Whether your day-to-day tasks feel small, or your environment is incredibly discouraging, being faithful in the little things matters deeply to the Lord. Let’s talk about how changing our perspective completely revolutionizes our work ethic. Questions for personal reflection: Think about a time you were tempted to cut corners or do a "half-job" on a chore, assignment, or task. What was your motivation at that moment, and what helped change your mind? Colossians 3:23 tells us to work "heartily as for the Lord and not as for men." How would your daily attitude change if you viewed your chores, schoolwork, or job as a direct service to Jesus?  Why is being faithful in the small, unseen tasks so important to our spiritual growth and character?  How can you maintain a good work ethic and stay faithful when you have a difficult boss, teacher, or environment where everyone else is cutting corners?  We’d love to hear from you! He Has Promised His Presence, But Do We Believe It? | Connecting Faith & Life w/Mister Brown Ep144

I was leaving church the other day when a brief conversation with a family completely changed my week. Their four and six-year-old boys quoted our memory verse from Hebrews 13:5 perfectly. It got me thinking about how much we, as adults, struggle with the exact same thing those boys memorized. In this episode, we dive into the life of Joseph and look at what it really means to trust God when life gets good, bad, or downright ugly. God has promised His presence, but are we actually living like we believe Him? Watch the full episode and check out our resources below. Questions for personal reflection: How can we evaluate our lives to see if our possessions or financial goals have started owning us? In the life of Joseph, God was with him in the good, the bad, and the ugly. Which of those three seasons are you currently navigating, and how can you actively lean into God's presence right now? Why do you think financial contentment is so closely tied to trusting in God's constant presence? What Does Eternal Life Actually Feel Like? | Connecting Faith & Life with Mister Brown Ep142

I’ve struggled with doubt just like anyone else. There are days I’ve wondered if I really measure up or if God truly loves the messy version of me. In this episode, I share a sermon clip from Matt Chandler that changed my perspective on assurance. We are diving into 1 John 5:13 to see why we can know, for certain, that we have eternal life. It isn’t about being "good enough" but about what Christ has already finished on the cross. I hope this helps you find rest in His love today.  Matt Chandler sermon https://subsplash.com/u/thevillagechurch/media/d/96254zv-that-you-may-know Dwell app This is an affiliate link—thanks for supporting what we do. Questions for personal reflection: How does the metaphor of a "heartbeat" or EKG change the way you look at the "ups and downs" of your personal faith? Have you ever felt like you had to perform or work harder to earn God's love? Why is it important to "preach the truth to yourself" using the Bible when you start to feel doubt or anxiety? How does knowing that God has already seen your "worst moments" and still moved toward you change your perspective on today's struggles? We’d love to hear from you!
