Two Packers Starting Jobs Are Suddenly UP FOR GRABS

Two Packers starting jobs may be up for grabs, but the biggest takeaway from training camp is that Green Bay is finally willing to test its assumptions. Anthony Belton has been pushed out of the first-team right guard spot, while Jacob Monk has received an extended look with the starters. When Zach Bako-Bewele returned at right tackle, Monk stayed at guard and Belton rotated behind him. Rookie Jager Burton has also continued working with the first unit at left guard while Aaron Banks works his way back through a managed return. Is Monk really strong enough to be an NFL guard? Is Burton the more exciting long-term answer? And if Belton cannot win back a starting role, is he now simply depth at tackle and guard? On the other side of the ball, Brandon Cisse has made the cornerback competition very real. The rookie has earned first-team reps, won big moments against Christian Watson, and made a serious case that CB2 could be his job to lose. But we also pump the brakes on the "Cisse is already a star" training-camp hype. Carrington Valentine has missed time with a hamstring injury, Keisean Nixon has rotated with the second team, and Benjamin St-Juste and Jalen Simpson have both entered the picture. The Packers have more answers to find than they did a week ago, but at least the coaching staff is making the competition matter. J.J. Lahey and Jake Schyvinck also discuss: • Green Bay's wave of new signings, including Trey Dean III, Tra Fluellen, Chris Hilton Jr., Kisean Johnson, Drew Biber, McCallan Castles and Kaden Prather • Why the Packers suddenly need so many extra tight ends in camp • Tucker Kraft's limited return, Luke Musgrave's neck issue and the increasingly thin TE room • Matthew Golden's toe injury, Jayden Reed's ankle injury and the pressure on Green Bay's receiver depth • Savion Williams, Isaiah Neyor and J. Michael Sturdivant fighting for bigger opportunities • Jordan Morgan at left tackle, Darian Kinnard's struggles and the offensive line's broader depth problem • Whether the early pass-rush production is real or partly a product of a shuffled offensive line • Why Barryn Sorrell appears to be emerging as EDGE2, plus flashes from Lukas Van Ness, Brenton Cox Jr., Dani Dennis-Sutton, Collin Oliver and Anthony Campbell • Devonte Wyatt's return to 11-on-11 work and Javon Hargrave's ramp-up • Our reaction to the Packers' first unofficial depth chart • What we need to see when Green Bay opens the preseason against Pittsburgh The Packers have not officially named new starters. But with Belton and Nixon losing first-team work, Cisse rising, Monk and Burton getting real opportunities, and injuries reshaping several position groups, the first preseason game should tell us a lot more than another week of camp hype. Is This Packers Defense Already ELITE? Training Camp Reality Check

The Green Bay Packers are five practices into 2026 training camp, and Jonathan Gannon’s defense is already controlling the action. Is this the first sign of an elite Packers defense, or should we be concerned about an offense practicing without several essential pieces? On this live episode of Packers: DERAILED, J.J. Lahey and Jake Schyvinck break down everything that has happened at Packers training camp so far. Jordan Love has largely played well despite the defense’s success, while rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden is quickly becoming one of the biggest stories of camp. Christian Watson looks healthy and explosive, Jayden Reed remains a versatile weapon and several receivers are making serious pushes for roster spots. The offensive line is much harder to evaluate. Zach Bako-Bewele, formerly Zach Tom, and Aaron Banks have both been limited, leaving Green Bay to practice with a temporary starting combination. We examine Sean Rhyan’s transition to center, Anthony Belton’s opportunity at right guard, Darian Kinnard’s difficult assignment at right tackle and whether the offense’s struggles should actually concern Packers fans. Defensively, we discuss Gannon’s early schematic fingerprints, including simulated pressure, A-gap threats, three-safety packages, cornerback blitzes and constant post-snap disguise. Lukas Van Ness, Barryn Sorrell, Dani Dennis-Sutton, Brenton Cox and Collin Oliver are also creating optimism about Green Bay’s pass-rush depth while Micah Parsons remains unavailable. Plus, we break down the emerging cornerback competition between Carrington Valentine, Brandon Cisse and Benjamin St-Juste; Anthony Campbell’s remarkable run of batted passes; MarShawn Lloyd’s encouraging start; Green Bay’s growing tight-end injury problem; and Trey Smack’s uneven performance as the only kicker currently on the roster. Who are the biggest winners and losers from the opening stretch of Packers training camp? Which performances are real, which are being influenced by injuries, and what should Packers fans be watching next? Join us live and bring your questions about any player on the Packers roster. Micah Parsons’ Timeline, Vita Vea Wants Out, and LaFleur Is on Notice

Vita Vea has requested a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, making the Green Bay Packers one of the NFL’s most interesting potential landing spots. What would Brian Gutekunst have to give up? How much would a new contract cost after Jalen Carter reset the defensive tackle market? And does paying a 31-year-old star make sense for this Packers roster? J.J. Lahey and Jake Schyvinck break down Vea’s trade value and fit in Green Bay before discussing Micah Parsons’ recovery and a possible Week 6 return against the Dallas Cowboys. They also examine new Packers Lenny Krieg and Thomas Yassmin, then react to Ed Policy’s “continuity, not chaos” explanation for extending Matt LaFleur. The Packers can have an ELITE defense...if Gutey fixes THIS

How good is the Green Bay Packers defense compared with the rest of the NFC? We rank every NFC defense into tiers and examine whether Green Bay has enough talent to become a championship-level unit under Jonathan Gannon in 2026. The Packers have legitimate star power, but two unresolved position groups could determine the defense's ceiling. We break down Keisean Nixon and the concerning cornerback room, the pass-rush plan surrounding Micah Parsons, Lukas Van Ness and Green Bay's young EDGE defenders, and what Brian Gutekunst still needs to address before the season begins. 💸 Donate Some Love: If you love the show, please consider helping to keep us “derailed” at https://venmo.com/packerproject or https://cash.app/$PackerProject Join J.J. We ranked every NFC QB...and Jordan Love changed the whole list

Where does Jordan Love really rank among NFC quarterbacks entering the 2026 season? We build a complete NFC QB tier list and determine where the Green Bay Packers' franchise quarterback belongs compared with the conference's best. This is not simply a ranking based on last season's statistics. We debate each quarterback's talent, consistency, ceiling and ability to win meaningful games, while asking the question that matters most to Packers fans: How many NFC quarterbacks would you actually rather have leading Green Bay? 💸 Donate Some Love: If you love the show, please consider helping to keep us “derailed” at https://venmo.com/packerproject or https://cash.app/$PackerProject Join J.J.
