July 28, 2026, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries)

Friends of the Rosary, Today, Christ the Lord (Matthew 13:36-43) explains the parable of the weeds in the field. "He who sows good seed is the Son of Man,the field is the world, the good seed the children of the Kingdom. The weeds are the children of the Evil One,and the enemy who sows them is the Devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.Just as weeds are collected and burned up with fire,so will it be at the end of the age.The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his Kingdomall who cause others to sin and all evildoers. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sunin the Kingdom of their Father.Whoever has ears ought to hear." As we learn from the Lord, good and evil grow together for a time, but not forever. The Lord is patient. He will separate what is true from what is false, what belongs to the Kingdom from what destroys it. Let’s not be discouraged by the weeds — in the world, in the Church, or in your own heart! Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! July 27, 2026, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)

Friends of the Rosary Jesus describes today to the crowds, with two parables, the transforming power of the Kingdom of God by comparing it to a mustard seed and yeast. (Matthew 13:31–35). “The Kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field. It is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants. It becomes a large bush, and the ‘birds of the sky come and dwell in its branches.’” He spoke to them another parable.“The Kingdom of heaven is like yeastthat a woman took and mixed with three measures of wheat flouruntil the whole batch was leavened.” The Church, the body of Jesus, the living organism that makes present Christ’s mind and will in the world, is here to transform the world — rather than to make itself accessible to the world, as Bishop Barron explains. “It is the mustard seed, the leaven. In Augustine’s terms, it is the city of God making its way within the city of man.” “It is his love made flesh throughout the ages, his hands and feet and eyes and heart.” — Yesterday, in Matthew 13:44-52, Jesus said to his disciples: “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.” Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! July 26, 2026, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries)

Friends of the Rosary, The Lord, appearing in a dream to Solomon (as we learn today in the first reading), said to him: "Because you have asked not for a long life for yourself, nor for riches, nor for the life of your enemies, but for understanding so that you may know what is right—I do as you requested. I give you a heart so wise and understanding that there has never been anyone like you up to now." Health and wealth can easily be lost, but the union with God is everlasting. The human heart is wired to seek God — or to respond to His call. And faith is the “pearl of great price.” We are created to be conformed to the image of His Son—in all his glory. Without Him nothing has a firm foundation, nothing is wise or joyful. Saint Paul said in his letter to the Romans 8:28-30, "We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose." In Matthew 13:44-52, Jesus said to his disciples: “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.” Like the merchant, we get rid of everything that distracts us and acquire the field with the treasure of the faith. July 25, 2026, Feast of St. James the Greater, Apostle, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)

Friends of the Rosary, Today, July 25, is traditionally the Feast of St. James, the Apostle, known as the Greater, in order to distinguish him from the other Apostle St. James. Jesus called him Boanerges, "son of thunder." James the Greater was our Lord's cousin (an old legend states that Salome, his mother, was a sister of Mary), and John the Evangelist's brother and the son of Zebedee, the fisherman from Galilee. With Peter and John, he was one of the witnesses of the Transfiguration, and later of the agony in the garden. He was beheaded in Jerusalem in the year 42 or 43 A.D. by King Herod Agrippa, becoming the first apostle to give his life for proclaiming Christ. In Spain, his magnificent shrine at Santiago de Compostela has been a place of pilgrimage since the ninth century, through el Camino, "the Way of St. James". After the pilgrimage to Rome or the Holy Land, it is the most famous and the most frequented pilgrimage in Christendom. The paths to Compostella form a network over Europe; they are dotted with hospices and chapels. Saint James is a powerful saint for today because he shows both human ambition and holy transformation. In today's Gospel (Matthew 20:20-28), Jesus tells James and John that greatness in His Kingdom is not about status, but service: “Whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant.” The glory comes through the chalice — suffering, sacrifice, and service. Saint James followed that path all the way to martyrdom. Staying close to Jesus, we will see how He will turn our ambition into mission. Saint James, pray for us! July 23, 2026, Feast of St. Bridget, Holy Rosary (Luminous Mysteries)

Friends of the Rosary, Today, July 23, we honor—and ask for her prayer and intercession—St. Bridget (1302-1373) of Sweden, the Scandinavian mystic famous for her Revelations concerning the sufferings of our Redeemer. St. Bridget received visions of Christ’s suffering many times throughout her life and, after her husband died and she bore eight children, Bridget founded the Order of the Most Holy Savior, also known as Bridgettines, erecting a double monastery for monks and nuns, Following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, she later went to Rome, where she worked for the return of the Popes from Avignon. Shortly before she died, the saint went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. At the shrines there, she had visions of what Jesus had said and done in each place. When she was only ten, it is recorded that she had a vision of Jesus on the cross and heard him say, “Look at me, my daughter." "Who has treated you like this?" cried little Bridget. Jesus answered, "Those who despise me and refuse my love for them.” From that moment on, Bridget tried to stop people from offending Jesus. All St. Bridget's revelations on the sufferings of Jesus were published after her death. Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! July 22, 2026, Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, Holy Rosary (Glorious Mysteries)

Friends of the Rosary, Today, July 22, we celebrate the Feast of Saint Mary Magdalene, the Apostle of the Apostles, the first recorded witness to the Resurrection, and announcer of the message of the Resurrection of the Lord, like the other apostles. Mary Magdalene had indeed the honor of being the "prima testis" to the resurrection of the Lord, the first to see the empty tomb and the first to hear the truth of His resurrection. She fulfilled the mandate the Risen Christ gave her: "Go to my brothers and say to them." Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord” — and that he had said these things to her. In this way she became an evangelist, or, as Rabano Mauro and St. Thomas Aquinas said, "apostolorum apostola", as she announces to the apostles what they in turn will announce to all the world. She was from Magdala, a small fishing town on the Sea of Galilee, between Capernaum and Tiberias. She was known to be a "great sinner," a woman of the streets who heard Jesus speak of the mercy and forgiveness of God and changed her life completely. Christ had a special consideration and mercy for this woman, who showed her love for Him with "lacrimas humilitatis", as St. Anselm said. She stood with the Virgin Mary at the foot of the Cross on that brutal Good Friday afternoon and had been by the side of Mary during these difficult hours. July 21 2026, Holy Rosary (Sorrowful Mysteries)

Friends of the Rosary, In today’s Gospel (Matthew 12:46-50), Jesus is told that His mother and relatives are outside asking for Him. His answer might sound sharp at first: “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” But Jesus is just revealing something deeper: Belonging to Him is not only about blood, name, culture, or religious identity. True closeness to Jesus comes from doing the will of the Father. Every person who listens to God, trusts Him, and obeys Him can become part of His own family. Mary is the perfect example of this Gospel because she belongs to Jesus not only as His mother, but as the one who says yes to God completely: “Let it be done to me according to your word.” So Jesus is opening the door wider. In the first reading, we learn that doing God’s will means forgiving, trusting, returning to Him, and letting His compassion shape how we treat others. Let’s not measure our closeness to God only by a religious prayer routine. Let’s ask: Am I actually doing the Father’s will today? Am I a forgiving and merciful person?
