Potions and Pixels is know in the area as a place to play unique indie arcade games in a handful of unique cabinet designs. At Potions and Pixels you can meet up with other artists, musicians, and developers that love creating all kinds of art and games, not just arcade games. This is a community hub for creatives who want to just create for the fun of creating. Potions and Pixels is also big on helping the community through hands on experience they work with the city to train people into carpentry and electrical positions to start their career. Hans has started routing arcade games and pinballs with it all culminating in to opening Hyper Beer Co Arcade.Hyper Beer Co Arcade is a very interesting project. Hans had the games, found a location and partnered up with a local brewery that he already had games at to make Hyper Beer Co Arcade happen. Hans tells us about how they are a tasting room for Hyper Beer Co and they fall under the same liquor license as the brewery.     How We Made Our Homebrew Pokemon Pinball Machine, Pinsanity with Luke and Owen | Ep 184

    Eh, Yo! Let's dive into the homebrew Pokemon Pinball Machine with the Underwood brothers. I got to sit down with Luke and Owen to talk about their homebrew Pokemon Pinball Machine. The Pokemon Pinball Machine was the second completed pinball from Pinsanity. Luke and Owens first pinball was based on League of Legends and after they finished that the started a new game. They wanted the new game to be fastr and flowy, over time the Pokemon theme seemed to fit really well. After a few years of taking it to shows and changing the playfields to improve their Pokemon Pinball Machine this is what their finished game looks like. I got to play the Pokemon Pinball Machine a ton at Pinball Expo this year and it was my favorite game and my most played game. I spent a ton of my time in the homebrew booth.This is a great example of what can be done when you have a passion and a vision. Luke and Owne take you through the whole process of building the Pokemon Pinball Machine. They start with how they started, how they prototyped, and how they changed the game over a few versions. Luke and Owen give some great advice to aspiring homebrewers, so if you have ever wanted to make your own pinball this is a great one to tune into. Zane has always had the dream of opening up and arcade, just over a year ago he made that dream a reality. Zane and his partners opened up Pixel Palace Arcade in Round Rock, Texas so the community had a cool arcade to hang out at. They keep Pixel Palace Arcade strictly nostalgic sticking to the 80's and 90's theme. Pixel Palace Arcade has a great selection of retro games, trash movies playing on the TV's and tons of arcade and gaming decorations. Zane documented the whole journey from finding games to opening the doors and he tells us all about what it took and what you should do if you want to open your own arcade.
