    “Being a Black Queer human is a metaphysical dilemma I haven’t quite conquered yet.” The original line goes something like: “Being alive and being a woman is all I got, but being colored is a metaphysical dilemma I haven’t conquered yet…” — ‘Tangie’ "I imagine one of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, they will be forced to deal with pain. If you’re treated a certain way you become a certain kind of person. If certain things are described to you as being real, they’re real for you whether they’re real or not. It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here. Freedom is not something that anybody can be given. Freedom is something people take, and people are as free as they want to be." ~James Baldwin  The intention for this conversation is to create an atmosphere of change around the subject of Being Black And Queer.     Some churches “weaponize scripture and religion to do very deep damage on the psyche,” this also comes and other forms. Some people may call it spiritual bypassing and others might call it spiritual trauma! Spiritual trauma occurs as a result of events that threaten and damage our core spiritual values and goals. This can be a result of either abuse by religious/spiritual figures or being raised with a toxic and overbearing interpretation of that religion or spiritual belief. Join me and my good friend Sarah Noelle Gabriel as we unpack our experience with religious/spiritual trauma!The intention for this conversation is to create an atmosphere of change around the subject of Religious/spiritual Trauma. Also to help share perspectives form different variation of trauma inflected by different spiritual and Religious groups!

    Unavoidable Shit with Toxic Positivity

    Toxic positivity or sometimes positive toxicity is a dysfunctional approach to emotional management that happens when people do not fully acknowledge negative emotions, particularly anger and sadness. It is a "pressure to stay upbeat no matter how dire one's circumstance is", and this pressure may prevent a person from coping emotionally with such circumstances by feeling otherwise natural emotions. Toxic positivity happens when people believe that negative thoughts about anything should be avoided. Even in response to events which normally would evoke sadness, such as loss or hardships, positivity is encouraged as a means to cope, but tends to overlook and dismiss true expression. The intention for this conversation is to create and promote healthy views and conversations around Toxic Positivity , removing the obstacles of untold truths and learning to be transparent humans and create genuine experiences!
