Mamas At Work - Episode #6: Debbie Bussart (My MOM!)

In today's episode, I have a conversation with my mom, Debbie Bussart.   I had a hard time editing this one down - we talked for over an hour! - but I think I managed to get it down to the good parts about her work and career journey.  I helped her see that she actually had a career!  Mom is part of the "Silent Generation", the ones that paved the way for Baby Boomers and Gen X.  Silent generation characteristics include discipline, upholding of values, gratitude and an appreciation for the “simplicities” in life. They are best characterized by a strong sense of determination and willpower.   This definition exemplifies my mom.   If you are lucky enough, as I am, to still have your parents with us on the Earth, interview them and record it.  You'll be so happy you did. If you know someone who would be a great guest on the podcast, send them my way to suzanne@mamasatworkpodcast.com

Mamas At Work - Episode #5: James "I'm not a Mama" Donahower

In today's episode, I have a conversation with my beloved cousin James.  You may be wondering, why the heck?  He's not a Mama! He's not, but he was raised by a working mama, my Auntie Ann, and is married to his working mama, Martina, and he spent time as the stay at home dad.  So, his perspective is a good one!  And, I love talking with him.  You get to be a fly on the wall as we discuss a wide range of Mamas At Work related topics including the immune systems of the Amish.  That's right. James is an amazing person and I'd say that even if he wasn't my cousin.  I only aspire to be as hilarious and smart as he is.  You can read way more about James at www.jamesdonahower.com  and on all the social places.

Mamas At Work - Episode #4: Jodi James, Artist Representative, StudioTribe/ SC Pictures

I have known my friend Jodi James for several years. She is poised, funny, driven - a hard worker with a heart of gold.  We talk about how the torment of being a working mom can tear at us and she shares the triggers that drove her to make decisions about her career and life at home.  I bet many working mamas can relate.  I sure do!   Jodi, I'll always have your back my friend! Here is more from Jodi.  Get ready to belly laugh! Ok, here’s 3 of my fave videos from Cat & Nat but go to their YouTube too & just scroll through the titles – so funny, they are my guilty pleasure!  Their posts on FB are more about “feeling normal” (no matter what kind of mom you are). https://youtu.be/z3Z1qp806Fs - D bomb about marriage & kids https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT_MQbfkCwI – Parent Teacher (I watched this one right after my first Parent/Teacher meeting for Wade where he was having some behavioral issues in Pre-K so it spoke to me!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUnErG8o-X0 – 90s Mom (they had it easy!) Enjoy!  Also, have you heard of the Mom Project?  Check it out if you haven’t - https://themomproject.com/
