    Internet & Reading

Fun fact: My teachers used to suggest reference books to read along with the prescribed textbooks. Now can you expect teachers to recommend such books? Google’s classroom has redefined the whole experience of submitting an assignment. Well, to be fair, doing an assignment or write-up on a topic is no longer a tough job. Nothing that you can’t handle with few hours on the Internet, right? But here’s the twist - we have become so accustomed to the distracted way of reading that we no longer understand the full extent of something read in the first go. It requires multiple reads. Plus to keep up with a reading habit now is a very costly affair. No longer are the comics and novels coming in at INR 10 to 100. They are all priced above INR 100 and have amazing covers plus marketing. Sadly, that is the state of things wherein quality content is costlier and requires marketing to reach enough people to ensure a good volume of sales. I would recommend you to get a Kindle Unlimited plan or even get Audible - https://www.amazon.in/dp/B077S5CVBQ/?ref=chaitanyaac0f-21?actioncode=AINOTH066082819002X&tag=chaitanyaac0f-21 (affiliate link, please support!) It helps that you can still continue doing your tasks in that well accustomed distracted manner to which people are used to now. But reading is important in these times Knowledge Food for your brain Literary skills and creative communication Bonding and empathy How to improve your reading skills? Identify main ideas Make small notes on key points Connect/identify the scenarios in your life or visualise them Try to anticipate what will be the next section or theme or chapter all about in the book - this way it makes reading entertaining
