    Washington DC Pt 2 - "This is a 24 Hour Protest"

    We take you now to the streets of Washington DC after dark, when Black Lives Matter Plaza comes alive in the midst of Trump's Republican National Convention speech at the White House and buzzes with action the nights after the Commitment March. This episode features interviews with protesters who have been active in DC from the beginning of the protests, at this point, for a consistent 90 days. They describe firsthand accounts with the police, some speak to their experience being kettled in a crowd others to the conditions after being arrested for marching. We record from a scene where smoke bombs were thrown at the crowd at 3:00 in the morning.  Other interviews are held in the late evenings with people who have traveled in from out of town who give perspectives and comparisons to their home cities.     Washington DC Pt 1 - “Get Your Knee Off Our Necks” A National Call To March

    We take you to the Commitment March where hundreds of thousands of people from around the nation gather at the Lincoln Memorial, 57 years after the iconic Martin Luther King speech, for the anticipated televised event, featuring speeches from Al Sharpton, the MLK family, and leaders from various cities. "Say Their Names" is a common theme of the day as speakers remember the recently fallen Black lives to police brutality. This episode shares speeches that received less airplay - those from resilient activists and parents who lost children to police force. We also talk with attendees who flew and drove hundreds miles to be there in Washington DC, representing their communities and organizations back home. We discuss their collective purpose to continue the fight for civil rights and to amplify Black voices.     Austin TX - Voices from Austin

    You will hear the voices of leaders and protesters captured from May 30th - August 18th, 2020 in Austin, Texas, the first stop in our journey and our native hometown. Like many cities, Austin has been tumultuous and at moments shockingly violent since protests following the death of George Floyd erupted nationwide. Here are the stories from individuals of a variety of backgrounds, genders, ethnicities, and ages, involved in the Black Lives Matter scene in the city. Disclaimer: Interviewees’ names have been changed to protect everyone’s identities. There will be strong language not appropriate for all ages.

Your hosts Chris Webb and Brittany “NO FOMO” Hallberg travel across the country, talking to people on the frontlines and documenting individual’s experiences in local marches and what motivates them to bring change to their local communities.   Each episode captures a well-rounded perspective of life on the ground of the movement by speaking to as many protesters and leaders in every city as possible. Episodes reference leaders’ speeches, local and national news, and eye-witness accounts to bring you the most detailed picture we can.
