Fault Radio Talks | A conversation with Josh Cheon (Dark Entries)

Josh Cheon is one of the early members of Honey Soundsystem and the head of Dark Entries Records, a label based in San Francisco that re-issues out of print and unreleased music from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, as well as contemporary artists. He is originally from New Jersey and grew up exploring New York and taking trips to Pennsylvania where he was exposed to goth rock and other alternative genres. His journey from a kid growing up in New Jersey to joining Honey Sound System and founding Dark Entries in San Francisco are his unique qualifications for being an authority on DIY enterprises. In this interview session, we will explore not only his story, but Josh’s perspectives on the importance of having a DIY mentality, his life in San Francisco, and how his experiences have shaped what he does today. This conversation was recorded on June 4, 2019. Music by Patrick Cowley - https://patrickcowley.bandcamp.com/album/school-daze

Fault Radio Talks | A conversation with Matt Black

You might not think you know Matt Black, but you probably know Coldcut, the groundbreaking duo who expanded the reaches of hip-hop and redefined what was possible with DJing. Even if you don't know Coldcut, you probably know Ninja Tune, one of the most successful (and longest-running) independent record labels in the world. And if you know either of these two projects, then you know Matt Black: he's one half of Coldcut and co-founded Ninja Tune. And Black's new album, Keleketla drops next month — on Ninja Tune, naturally. On this episode of Fault Radio Talks, we catch up with Matt for a short-but-sweet chat about some of what he's working on today, like Pirate TV, a re-launch of the live music livestream that Coldcut first launched more than 20 years ago. We even talk about EDM — and the conversation doesn't go where you might think. Hosted by San Francisco DJ and writer Chris Zaldua, aka DJ CZ.
