Making The Maven Podcast

Lauren Friedrich

Welcome to Making the Maven As a native new yorker, avid athlete and ambitious career gal, I was extremely fortunate to have one common and consistent denominator throughout my 35 years. And that is, mentorship. A source of advocacy from advisors including my own parents, all of which held my feet to the fire when it came to talent, personal development and potential. Throughout the course of my professional tenure I realized very quickly this is not the experience for everyone, and so I’ve made it a personal mission to do my part, by providing others with access to inspiring mentorship from experts. The difference that advice, advocacy, accountability or even rejection can play in someone’s outcome is significant. I’ve spent years grinding in corporate America and hustling through venture startups, and I’m ready to serve up this curated network of incredible professionals across a multitude of industries in support of you!, Trust me, this will be the swift kick in the ass you need to accelerate your development, career and business. Our guests offer an introspective deep dive into trending, innovative and traditional discussions, they will not disappoint. #ComingToAmerica, Roundtable on Immigration.

During Making The Maven’s second Happy Hour episode, we are excited to introduce you to two accomplished women to discuss immigration and Coming to America. After a semi-professional basketball career in her 20s, Natalia Gross-Michalak came to the states. She began her career with State Farm, followed by MB Financial and CIBC, solidifying her career in Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing. Today Natalia is a Senior Consultant at Deloitte. Our second guest, Karolina Zielinska, a graduate from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2011. After obtaining her Juris Doctor degree, she then passed the Illinois Bar that same year and began practicing in workers' compensation defense. After two years defending insurance companies and employers, she quickly realized she wanted to help people not cross examine them. So she pivoted hard and moved to the petitioner/plaintiff side. In 2014 she joined her current firm and became a Partner in 2017. 2021 will mark her 10th year of practice. During this happy hour they share their personal experiences and challenges, hopefully leaving Maven Nation with a greater sense of self-awareness and acceptance. Regardless of your professional arena these mavens shine a very important light on the journey of immigrating to America, achieving success despite adversities and everything in between.
