Board Game Hot Takes

I don’t really write reviews for podcasts (I know I should more) but i have listened enough that I feel the team deserves the review. I thought I loved board games, this crew is on a new level. Tim, Adam, and Chris are all great in their own way and balance each other out perfectly. We all owe them a lot for putting these episodes out so consistently and covering such a large volume of different games. They have opened my eyes to how great a weekly game night group can be.

Guy’s gotta constantly go on about how he doesn’t like cooperative games. Great. Go buy a flying Tesla and leave board game podcasting to decent people.

BGHT to put it simply, is the best tabletop podcast out there. Many of my very favorite games have been discovered through listening to endless hours of well thought out reviews, mechanics breakdowns and rules explanations. There have also been times where light has been shed on a downfall or two that have saved my hard eared dollars for another box for the shelf. The different preferences between Adam, Tim and Chris give an excellent 3 point perspective on every review, and all though I typically align with them be more than the others, it’s a great way to understand how the game in question will appeal to my different game night groups, and not to others. Thank you for all the hours you’ve put into creating an amazing library of no less than critical information for my favorite hobby. I await the next episode each week eagerly.

As an avid board-gamer who pretty much just stuck to one type of game growing up (*cough* area-control *cough*), I’d force my friends to play through the type of games that could become slogs and last for hours. I liked what I liked, and as far as I knew, if it wasn’t Axis & Allies or Twilight Imperium, I didn’t want any part of it. Board Game Hot Takes has completely reignited my love of the hobby. I’ve discovered a ton of great games that I would have never thought to try before I started listening to this show. The way Tim, Chris, Adam, and their guests let their passion and varied (and often conflicting) tastes shine through in their well structured discussions really have really widened my personal tastes. It has also caused me to become a more thoughtful resident-board-game-guy-of-the-group; before I forced my poor friends to play games I liked, but now I’m able to force my friends to play games they just might like as well 😌 Favorite episode is #259 with Danielle! Super funny and I feel like my wife could really sympathize with her feelings on having a husband addicted to the hobby 😉😂
