What happens when corruption, institutional rot, supernatural horror, and an entire prison full of deeply questionable human beings collide? Well, apparently, you get one hell of a movie. This episode takes a deep dive into Joko Anwar’s Ghost in the Cell (2026), a gloriously twisted, blood-soaked, darkly hilarious descent into madness that has quickly become one of my favorite films of the year. We’re talking prison politics, corruption, social inequality, supernatural chaos, outrageous practical effects, grotesque imagery, and the wonderfully unhinged sense of humor that makes this film such a memorable experience. We also get into the filmmaking itself, including the cinematography, sound, editing, performances, and the tremendous creative work that brings this nightmare to life. Beneath all the carnage and insanity, there’s plenty to chew on. Ghost in the Cell has something to say about power, privilege, and the systems that allow the worst people to get away with just about anything. It's nasty, hilarious, inventive, and technically impressive. In other words, exactly the kind of cinematic madness I love. One of the best things you could see in 2026. So, lock the doors, keep your head down, and whatever you do, don't trust the guy in the next cell. Welcome to Ghost in the Cell
