Dr. Balkhy is currently the Assistant Director-General for Antimicrobial Resistance at the World Health Organization, once a Clevelander, and always a leader in the field. We discuss the role of WHO on the global stage, the effect of COVID-19 on antimicrobial research and development, and the "infodemic" in the face of a public health crisis. Is there a better compliment for us than to be called "real deal public health people" by a leading WHO official? We don't think so, but we think she's the real deal too.
