    This Couple Has Been Married for 44 Years

    The year is 1975. Darlene and Howard meet in August; Howard proposes in February of 1976, and they get married in May of that same year. Within 10 months, at age 25, Howard had met the love of his life, proposed, and married her. Despite suffering three miscarriages, Darlene wound up getting pregnant with their first and only child in 1986, thanks to a special trip they took to NYC. While these two are happily married and living in Illinois, both dated a handful of people prior to meeting each other 45 years ago. Which is why, Howard says, “When the real thing comes along, you just know that that’s it.”
