Blue Zone Friendships

Blue Zones: regions of the world thought to have a higher than usual number of people that live much longer than average. This identification was coined by Gianni Pes and Michel Poulain. We have been inundated with tools, tips and products that promote the narrative of living longer lives. Most of us just want to age gracefully because being forever young takes a lot of work and collagen! However, what if I told you that the secret to living a longer, fulfilling, happier and graceful life is located in what is called the Blue Zones of the world. A documentary on YouTube explores the different Blue Zones located in the world and shares the tools to living a longer life. This week we discuss the Blue Zone that is Okinawa, Japan. Evolving Friendships

In the famous words of Nanny McPhee, 'When you don't want me, but need me, then I must stay. But when you want me, but no longer need me, then I must go.' These words were so apt for the theatrics of the movie, but man oh man, when we say it has never been felt so deep within reality. As we grow throughout our lives we encounter many different people, but also numerous parts of who we are through our experiences. And as we navigate our lives the people who have been along side us, too, are evolving, some may fall away, others may take a hiatus and others may remain till death do us part. Wait...is something wrong with our title? Does it remind you of a movie perhaps? Yes, the one with Jennifer Lopez. What to expect, when you're expecting. However, we are not pregnant and this is not something you can particularly plan for. In this episode, we delve into what zero expectations can bring. Even when expecting the unexpected you are still expecting something...wow that was really confusing. The point is, what happens when you have zero expectations? What does your life look life? How do you feel? How do you approach life? Have we learnt anything from the year who will not be named? And if so, what? Sustainable Transitions

Have you ever truly sat for a while and thought about the air you breathe in?...Okay, maybe that's a little too abstract and existential. How about have you ever thought about the toothbrush you're using the plastics, although, medical grade, effects on your health, or the toothpaste you're using? Have you thought about all the takealot packaging that comes with every purchase and where it goes...aah we must sound like environmental activists. The point is you'd be surprised the long standing effects that everything you do on a daily is actually making on your life, we're talking about the air you're breathing in, the water you're drinking, the lives being affected by certain malpractices in factories from stores that you buy at.
